I don't accept this kind of issues/bugs in an OS that Apple has advertised to improve graphical performance and app loading time where the previous OS has had better performance in that fileds on my machine.

what does that even mean? you don't accept it? so...what happens? apple folds? you get a PC? not sure what you're after here (and again, not everyone has this issue). but i'll stay out of it from now on, seems you won't hear anything that doesn't support you point-of-view...

If you can accept that a brand new machine, paid for his stability, with the latest OS has lags and crashes you are too permissive with that company.

Needless to say that if that OS hasn't bugs they weren't releasing software updates; if you haven't a bug it doesn't mean it doesn't exists, maybe you are just not noticing it or you are passing over it.

[you can search the whole web, I'm not the only one experiencing this kind of issues ;)]

I installed the beta and now I've had it a few times now where I'm working and then everything freezes but my music keeps playing. The only way I know of fixing it is doing a hard restart.

It seems to happen when Safari is the active window. Music keeps playing but nothing else updates.

Please tell me the beta has fixed the Safari stall problem. Used to just be twitter.com - now at times typing a search in the URL window stalls searching to Google. SO Annoying

If you can't see the frame drops you are blind.

[It behaves the same in every retina mac I've tried]

My Mac pro stutters ever so slightly on this list. I suppose it's because the list is being updated.

I can have a finder list as long as I please and it will not stutter at all.

not blind, and not happening here. sorry. try setting the view by name, so the cpu usage values don't change while you're scrolling...
Same here. The lag is way more pronounced when using a traditional mouse compared to Magic Mouse or Trackpad gesture though.

The interesting thing is that this doesn't happen with a non retina mac -> they need to fix this whole choppy UI in every retina mac since even the integrated gpu in 13" MacBooks can run 2 4k displays at the same time.

If you can go to a near apple store/retail and compare the fluidity of the UI in a macbook air to a macbook pro 13", you'll be surprised!

It's mainly hardware-related.
The performance increase between Intel HD 6000 and Iris Pro does not compensate the increased demand from pushing all the pixels.

I finally updated yesterday on my '13 Air and the App Store just spins. No featured tab loading, no purchases, and no updates. Can anyone else confirm this? Not sure how I am going to ever get beyond this beta version if I can't access the updates or purchases.

I can safely bet that is a software problem; I've seen mbpros with integrated gpu run smootly an external display @ 4k with the lid closed and running choppy with only the integrated display.

have to ask: have you tried rebooting? or you could drag the "com.apple.appstore.plist" file from your home library Preferences folder to the desktop, then reboot (then delete that file from the desktop if that fixes it)...

you mean the menubar & dock? under system preferences>general. not exactly system-wide...

In the first post of this thread there's a screenshot of a system-wide dark theme. I've never seen it, nor have I ever heard of it. I can't find anything about it on the internet either!

I see the lag too on my 15 inch 2015. for me, one update removes the lag and then the next puts it back. Reduce transparency fixes it most of the time but this isn't a good solution

When I try to install the latest beta a message box opens saying: Available updates have changed, click "show details" to see available downloads.
And I am stuck in this circle, anyone got any idea how to fix that?

The entire Mac Store, and iCloud mail was down for me last night when I tried to update. I deleted store prefs, restarted computer and router, etc... I just shut down for the night and went to bed.

Woke up and everything worked fine. You might want to try again, as it could have just been an outage in your area.

not system-wide, just the default dock and menubar...plus 'the application chrome' (and no, don't know where that 'hidden' option is...).

Weird! Try again in a few hours, reboot, or clear the AppStore temporary files?

How do I activate the system-wide dark theme? It looks awesome!

It looks awesome in screenshot because it is carefully chosen. It is awful in practice because it is so unfinished - Black text on black backgrounds, white text on white backgrounds, etc.

If you insist, go to backup /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemAppearance.bundle/Contents/Resources/.

Back up SystemAppearance.car. Then rename DarkAppearance.car to SystemAppearance.car
