Uh, no offence to the OP, but it's actually not that difficult to do. Most of it is just replacing text and images off the current Lion page. It does look good though, for the most part.

It wasn't that difficult, no. Mainly was just replacing the text/images, the only thing that was challenging was the 'gloss' on the iMac/MBP.
I'll work on the spacing and shaping of the icons, thanks.

This was just to experiment on what I could do in Photoshop - I've taught myself PS since I was 6 on my dad's old Mac, so decided just to have a play around for an hour and a half.
Hopefully the result came out well!

Wow. After looking at how complex your work is, I can't believe the insignificant gloss is the challenge for you. It's basically a transparent gradient.

But how did you pull it off?

Thanks, but what bits do you consider more complex?

The gloss was basically a white shape with a layer mask. Not that difficult, but probably the hardest bit to get to look 'right'.

I think OSX 10.9 will just be the futher iOSing of OSX, and I think that will make it even more illervaent than it already was.

At least Windows 8 gives you a choice of going " ******** touch screen **** " and " real desktop ". I doubt OSX 10.9 will have that choice.

The things that I would love to see on OS X:

- Even tighter iCloud integration so we can access anything from device to device. Of course it requires a lot of storage but would be nice thing to have.

- New design to keep up with the Windows 8 UI because OS X haven't changed a lot over the past years.

Maps, is actually a pretty good idea to port to the Mac, wonder if Apple will do that in 10.9.

256 quadrillion zettabytes is the theoretical limit of the ZFS file system. It's based on physical rather than theoretical limits, as it would take more energy to boil the world's oceans that to create 256 quadrillion ZBs.

I still think Apple are into their puns at the moment! 'It's a whole new direction' for iOS 6? (Referring to maps). Resolutionary for the new iPad? 'Even faster everything' for 4S? Oh, and the 'funnest' iPod yet!

in my opinion though, I feel like IOS is becoming more shiny and ios like without adding much fuction

if i could add one feature, it would be tile windows like windows 7 can

i hope 10.9 will be about functionality, not extra ios features added in

10.9 contains a much more limited File System (FS), compared to ZFS.

But in reality, i'll expect about 3 new features, 2 being Maps and Siri. And a further reduction in usability re: multi-monitor support and multi-tasking.

ZFS would provide many more under the hood changes though, which would prepare OS X for the future.
