I know it's hard for hardcore apple fanatics to hear this, but this OS plus apple policies has really made me mad. I was fooled to invest in a rMBP as my desktop computer, but I was completely wrong. I don't know where to start with, with defective internet browsers that doesn't even work even on most popular websites?(safari, chrome, and , firefox), defective video players?, defective laptop that doesn't have a ethernet port( for making it awesome)? This OS even messes all of your files with hidden files that you can never have access to them but it's apparent in windows. Don't By Mac, except for having a multi gesture trackpad( That actually is good for nothing) It is full of cons and It's just a piece of toy compared to windows. Don't be fooled.

Don't think I've ever been on a website that didn't work on my Mac. Perhaps we use different sites, or maybe you are new to Macs and haven't taken the time to learn a new system?

I'm pretty sure you can sell the rMBP for a good price and buy yourself a windows box.

But maybe give yourself a few moments to accustom yourself to OS X, and then things come together.

I'm not saying everything is great, but you will eventually see that most things are much more intuitive than windows.

There's nothing wrong with making a mistake. You have easy choices, keep using it and hope, sell it for more than a decent Windows box would cost or, run Windows on it.

My take too.

Unfortunately, if he sells he may get more $$ needed for a windows box, but the box will be empty. So he'd have to buy his software and anti-virus stuff and other similar utilities.

As a perfectionist I really appreciate design of apple products, I always appreciate their world class products and believe me or not, all of my university friends know me as an apple fan, but I am informing about serious flaws in their operating system that is far away from perfection.

The 'defective' browsers you named are more compliant with W3C standards than Internet Explorer. What is your idea of a good browser. I cannot think of a website that works on IE but not Safari. All major search sites, youtube, vimeo, Netflix, news sites (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, BBC, Reuters), Wikipedia and every other site I visit work just fine.

I have no trouble finding the files I want to use (just use, you know FINDER to find things or maybe SEARCH for them). I cannot imagine what files you might have misplaced.

Video player? Quicktime plays everything you give it a driver for, and you can get VLC for it same as windows.

On the other hand, it IS true that Apple shipped a number of defective computers in 2014. The affected systems were found to have the nut behind the keyboard a little loose. It sounds like you may have one of the affected models.

I switched in 08 after being a Windows only guy since the early nineties. I have never experienced half of the **** you say you have.

I mean you are a tad vague when you just mention "popular website" and "defective video player". I'm not even sure what that is.

It's full of cons but you don't list any specifically. What to think of that? I need specifics, I can't relate to people just blindly bitching about something like don't buy that truck because it is a piece of crap. Ok what exactly makes it a piece of crap other than your opinion?

Understand?

1.In yahoo answers, It doesn't show hidden answers by clicking on it, If you consider yahoo popular website!
2.All of my video files played on this mac show a saturated white instead of a bright picture like sun for example(With quicktime or vlc)
3. having a wired connection with thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter significantly increases the lag(if a typical mac user here even know what ping is)
I am sorry for all of you that find insulting the best way here, I know you really need to show off and you have nothing except some apple devices.

Please provide a URL of a page where you are encountering this issue.

Please provide some evidence of this so-called lag.

1. Chrome and Firefox are both windows browsers too, which are more popular than internet explorer. If it doesn't work in all three, then its a problem with Yahoo.

2. VLC is also available as a windows program, so it sounds like an issue with the video file or perhaps you have bad display profile settings.

3. I have many other devices, mostly linux and solaris machines though. OS X has a bash terminal, and you can certainly use the ping command in it. For the record I'm using a thunderbolt gigabit adapter right now into a TWC fiber connection, which is resulting in 9ms pings consecutively to various domains.

Thunderbolt is an Intel technology and is also found on modern Windows laptops. This issue would certainly be affecting more people than just mac users.

Just curious, what version of OS X are you using? Although if you're using thunderbolt it would have to be a fairly modern version.

I've noticed that some who rant against Apple buy a named member ID so it doesn't seem like they're new.

Good, now you've posted a specific complaint. Unfortunately, you haven't posted your OS version, so we still don't know what you're working with.

2.All of my video files played on this mac show a saturated white instead of a bright picture like sun for example(With quicktime or vlc)
Which color profile are you using?

Can you post a screenshot illustrating this oversaturation? If the problem doesn't appear in a screenshot, then maybe the problem is a combination of color profile and your screen brightness level. In any case, this may be a difficult problem to solve unless someone with suitable skills is actually able to physically look at your screen. Some things are intrinsically difficult without being there.

3. having a wired connection with thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter significantly increases the lag(if a typical mac user here even know what ping is)
Plenty of people here know what a ping is, such as myself and dejo. Post the output from terminal, and identify exactly what you're pinging: LAN or remote, number of hops, etc.

I am sorry for all of you that find insulting the best way here, I know you really need to show off and you have nothing except some apple devices.
Sorry, but I looked at the whole thread and I don't see anyone insulting you. If you think there's an insult, feel free to report the post. Your post is the only one I see with anything faintly insulting (e.g. the insinuation in #3 above that Mac users don't know what ping is).

Here's an article you should probably read:
https://mikeash.com/getting_answers.html

It's written for people asking programming questions, but the problem-solving suggestions apply to any field.

If you're willing to be specific and concrete, then people here will probably be willing to help. If you're not specific and concrete, then no one here can possibly do anything to help, because there's no help possible when the problems are too vague.

For example reread your first post and tell me exactly how someone would be able to give you any specific solutions to anything you wrote there. It's impossible, because no specific problem was stated. If you make vague complaints and generalizations, then you should expect not to be taken seriously.

The choice of how this thread proceeds is yours.

https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20140922071819AA0I8Ua

has a hidden answer at the bottom (below the answer from Jay26) I click on the '1 answer hidden' link and it displays the hidden answer (from neko) in both Safari and in Firefox - not got Chrome on this particular machine to try it too

regarding the hidden files I'm assuming you mean the .DS_store files etc that you can find littering a removable drive or usb stick etc if you take it over to Windows machine and have Windows explorer set to show hidden files?

there's ways and means of clearing those up but yes those can be a pita

To stop the .DS_store files on externals use the Terminal code:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores true

However if you not advanced enough the use the freeware TinkerTool. It will do that with many other hidden steps, if you so choose.

Think thats for network mounts? not locally connected externals and USB sticks, last time I had to bother dealing with those I opted for BlueHarvest

1. No issue with hidden answers. Click them and they show. Are you wanting them shown by default? That might be IE not honoring the HTML tag that hides them.

2. Has to be video settings from your description. Macs are the artist computer and made their name in desktop publishing, photography, and video editing. Couldn't very well do that if it can't display white correctly.

3. Thunderbolts has plenty of bandwidth to support a GB Ethernet line. My MBPro has a Ethernet port, so I never tested the adaptor, but Intel developed it and video displays and ridiculous RAID systems connect with it. Laggy ping times would impact those systems severely.
