As mentioned in one of the two threads I have linked, this solution doesn't work on Yosemite.

EDIT :
Indeed there is a fix. This command line in the Terminal worked for me.

defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true; killall Dock

Read it here.

Post all your findings here in this current Developer Preview.

Bug Fixes
  • Visual glitches fixed when booting from a FileVault-encrypted Mac.

I still see visual glitches running Public Beta 1. Turning off FileVault resolved the issue.

I have been on Yosemite since beta one and this definitely worked for me. I am glad that you found another answer. I hope that you dont have to do to much organizing of your apps

Thanks.
Fortunately no. But you are right to mention this removes any personal organisation fo the icons you may have done. But this being a beta, I guess we should be aware to not put too much effort in tweaking the OS since when the final release is out we may need or want to do a clean install :)

This doesn't work at all. There used to be a .db file which handled apps, but that's not there anymore.

Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true; killall Dock

THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH, this finally solved the ghost app thing.

How is the graphics performance?
OS graphics, great, no issues so far. Gaming graphics, great, WoW and Diablo 3 working like a breeze.

I risked myself going the FileVault way, and it works great so far. I even installed Win8.1 on bootcamp and everything goes like a breeze.

I live on the edge, I've switched to Yosemite as my main and only OS X. Yes, i know it's risky, but I just couldn't handle that ugly Mavericks UI anymore, and it's quite stable (it's very unstable though, but enough for my daily usage, mostly).

Did I mention I love how double-clicking a window title bar, miximizes the window to the entire screen? (not fullscreen, that's what the fullscreen button is). I really, really love this feature, one of the few I missed from Windows.
