OSX crashes with photoshop CC

Hi mates, i'm having so much problems with mi mac pro 3.1 and PS.
Every time i try to work with a large file (400MB) and put some layers, the PS freezes and i have to hard reset the mac.
I try some different configurations and i get the same problems.
I cannot work because every 10 mins or so i have to reset and lost some work.
Can i upload some type of log errors? where can i find it?

I'm thinking that could be my graphics card, a nvidia GTX 570, because in PS sometimes it's showing some artifacts and with a smaller files with no layers i have 0 problems with PS.
There is some test that i could pass to the GTX?
I have the last drivers and the graphic card is going well with all the rest OSX programs.

Furmark is the best way to stress the graphic card, however, it may do nothing if that's driver's problem.

If you want to test OpenCL, then you can use Luxmark, there is a stress function.

You may also consider to disable the GPU if you suspect that may be related.

BTW, error log should be in console.
 
sorry but i don't find any furmark for osx version.

I find the console, but what log i have to copy here?

If you google "furmark OSX", the very 1st result will lead you to the download page.

I made the benmarch and get around 4800 points and with the stress test i get no errors by now using the mode furmark (OpenGL 2.1/3.2) and Resolution 1024x640 without antialiasing.
my drivers are open GL 4.1, should i change the mode and the resolution?

Make it full screen, native resolution, AA doesn't really matter, stress it for 15min. (If PS crash in 10 min, I think 15min Furmark is more then enough to examine if GPU (hardware) is the failure point. However, it still can't rule out GPU (software) issue.)

And you should pick the Furmark option (OpenGL 2.1/3.2). No need to change any other setting, driver.
 
BTW photoshop with GPU still going with errors

I try to stress the gpu with full screen and native res and it crashes in the first second. But it didn't crash like the PS did, it crash like a electric fault, like it need more W. The entire system falls down, and the fans stopped.
Updated PS has worked good between 1 and 2 hours without the gpu selected.

It's very clear that the GPU can cause instability to your system. I think it's better to swap it out ASAP.
 
If i could monitor the temp of the gpu i could see if it's problem of temperature or voltage.

Voltage should not be a problem. Wattage may be. That's easy to monitor via iStat. All you need to know is the current, then you can calculate the total power consumption. However, an easier way is just to make sure the PCIe slot and cables current within 7A.

It's almost impossible to monitor the temperature in OSX, but in Windows is very easy to do.
 
The pcie slot 1 is now 3A, the slot 1 is the only one that i'm using now.
Maybe later i will go for a 8800GT to test things and make compares.

Yes, it is conected the two 6 pin slots
And the pcie slot boost are
1 is 1.26A
2 is 1.25A
But them are changing 0.0X up and down, but are so stable

Nope, under stress at full screen the mac pro will shut down completely. The power on LED still on but the entire system is down, with no noises.
I can try to stress it without fullscreen and a low resolution, and the trying to increase it little by little.

If Furmark is too much for your system, you can try Luxmark 3.1. It's a good way to simulate steady real world max loading.

Stress test also avail for this apps. Also, it's easier to monitor the loading with Luxmark.
 
have you looked at the crash logs?
what do they say?
have you tried turning off gpu acceleration in Photoshop?
how much ram do you have? 400mb is not a small image
have you been crashing since a update to CC? have you tryed rolling back to see to a time it was stable if so.
what version of osx are you on

Hi!
I don't know which crash log i have to look.
In the past version of PS i cannot work with GPU enabled or disabled.
I have 10gb ram ECC PC6400 800MHZ DDR2
I'm on PS CC 2017 and now it's stable but i'm working without GPU enabled.
I'm on EL CAPITAN
 
cool pastrychef mentioned where the logs are ^^ lets see what they say
 
then what you need to do in contact adobe, when you pay for CC they provide support ^^ they can be helpful.

they will know what to look for and how to solve your problem
