(Boiling point of water btw is 70c but that's nothing for some computer components)
70c? Since when? It's 100c (precisely 99.98 °C).

I actually went into the Apple Store today for a genius appointment because my 2012 rmbp would overheat (105deg) and shutdown.
He told me that because I'm running 10.10 there isn't a reliable method of differentiating between hardware and software faults. It may be overheating due to a software issue, causing it shut down to protect itself. Concluded with me having to come back with 10.10 is officially released, or reverting back to Mavericks.
Mine is a 2012 MBA and I don't have too much heating out of the norm.I've noticed that I'm having pretty major overheating issues with Yosemite. 2012 MBP, 8GB RAM, SSD.
It gets worse when I leave it and it goes into semi-sleep (screen off, music playing, but still 'awake'). When I would come back, the fan is roaring and the temp reports >95C (That's just shy of boiling point).
I'm a bit concerned it's damaging the macbook...

I just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10 3 days ago and the fan is constantly on and the temp has shot up. I am not sure what to do. In additional is certainly seems that batter is getting drained by the running fan. Should I report it to apple support?
over 220F
Eh? Up a tall mountain maybe....
Thats 104.5C which is right on the border of thermal damage I'd have thought.
But then again, the US is still the wild west with all its guns and glory and imperial units. Cannot let go of old habits, but hey, the downfall is near.
People like you make me sick. You sound like you're just jealous, with all of your U.S. bashing. It really was uncalled for.
Sounds like it didn't go to sleep - did you shut the screen?
I had this once under ML but never since....
Yea the screen was shut. It's going to cost 500 to get the logic board replaced.
