I like that its a intel chipset item for the Ethernet controller too but it's only 1G Ethernet. I was hoping for that original price it would be 2.5G Ethernet. Still I bet it's a quality dock in a field littered with crap.

You know I love all the things that OWC does and I ordered this product and I had to return it because the cables just don't stay in the device for whatever reason they chose not to use a locking connection but they will sell you an additional piece of plastic to shove in there to hold the cable and now all Mac products don't have that problem so I'm confused by why they require you to buy a separate product to make sure the cable stay put I don't like that I think that's cheap out somehow but don't get me wrong I have a lot of OWC products this one for some reason has never worked right for me and again I had to return it because the cables would not stay connected to the box they would pop out because there was no locking mechanism as in things like a MacBook or a Mac studio.

Great piece of kit, felt very premium!
I had it when I used to rock an M1 Mac Mini (jumped on the apple silicon bandwagon on day one).
With my 2022 Mac Studio I didn't need it, but I missed having it on my desk.

That's a big drop for that USB-C Cable.

Any reason not to pick up a few of these? I think I only have one but a couple more may be good to have around the house. Is the quality ok?

Great value at this price. I have two - one with M2 Max MacBook Pro and another with the last Intel MacBook Pro. Limitations include the well-known annoyance of the port to connect to the mac being on the 'front' of the box vs back and not being secure.
Are you sure about the point re: port to connect to the Mac being on the front? I'm thinking of maybe getting one, and this would be a huge annoyance.

Based on the pics of this on the OWC website, this doesn't seem to be the case? The 2 TB3 ports are on the back (incl. the one to the right, which has the picture of the computer, which I assume is the one you connect to your Mac). The USB-C port on the front just seems to be the normal USB 3.1 Gen 2 USB-C port? (Not even TB3?)

In that case I look forward to replacing this $99 TB4 dock with a $99 TB5 dock in three or four years!
You say that now until you see what TB5 will bring in terms of multi-monitor high refresh rate support and NVME speeds.

This dock looks great until I saw it has only a single mini-DisplayPort. These days, dual HDMI or (full size) DisplayPort would be minimum requirement for me.

Oops. Sorry! My comment was on the OWC 11-Port Thunderbolt Dock which looks similar until you really look  and which isn't on sale. Will delete my original post if I can...

got me a 11 port TB4 dock… that’s my second one, also have the TB4 Hub- quality gear all of it, so solid, never needs power cycling… just plug it in and away you go…
