True, but I'm just demonstrating how good of a deal Apple Music is with the family plan. 15 for 6 people is a steal.

It is, unless you're the one with the bill. Lol. $10 was a lot nicer than the $15 I'm gonna have to start forking over because the wife and kids decided they want in on the action! ;)

Just a little humor. $15 is great. Everyone gets they own music library, and I share playlists I make with them all the time and keep them updated. It's like dynamic mixtapes I make for them.

I like download with highest quality and you can get all your musics from iCloud music library anywhere.

BTW, Post a Poll will be more intuitive for the result.

I was never really big into digital downloads. I used to have a pretty big CD collection, but a lot of them have been misplaced when I moved. When streaming was first introduced, I had a subscription to Rdio for the longest time until I moved over to Spotify and now presently, Apple Music. The only time I feel the need to make music/playlists available offline are when I'm flying or vacationing somwhere where I don't get a cell signal (ie. cruise).

i do not have a single track on my phone. Actually, I own very little music and most of it is super old which I will probably never listen again.

If I am at home or work, I like to list to variety of internet radios. when I drive to work/home, I usually listen to my local radio station.

when we travel for vacation which usually happens 1-2 times a year on average, I usually subscribe to XM radio for a month and that covers our road trip music - I cant relay on tmobile casue coverage is soo sketchy (I actually will be dumping them next year)

anyone think that $9.99 a month is wasted just for NOT using bandwidth, but just to have access to offline music u downloaded?(not counting the initial download u had to do)

Perhaps, i'm loosing my marbles...

It's worth it however you choose to use it.

You're paying rent on that music. It's like asking if anyone thinks that $600 a month is wasted when you're just living in the house and not moving in to it ;)

Really? Not even close. Each person chooses how he/she wants to live their life. Rent or own is an individual choice.

The way things are shaping up, does anyone *not* think that subscription will be the way most people consume music in the not too distant future?

There will always be a push to streaming I think. I actually believe the reserve will be true some day. That is, most will be using streaming services....

There will always be those that can't..... e.g don't like them, don't wanna pay a subscription fee (which is why i don't use Adobe Creative Cloud :) )

But I reckon Spotify, Google Music, Apple music and others will get more much more attention than they do now.... \

I can't always guarantee I can afford Apple Music, so would rather not be locked to that. Much prefer a physical purchased CD. I'll use Spotify (as Apple Music is too expensive) for music discovery then if I like an album i'll buy the CD. I don't trust placing all my music in a service Apple could drastically change/pull out the plug on or whatever.

I prefer to own my music. If I like a song a will buy it. I prefer to have all my music download to my device and that way I can listen to it anytime, anywhere regardless of wether I have an Internet connection or not.

Music subscriptions allow you to download tracks for offline, so that aspect of music listening is independent of owned versus subscribed music consumption.

I believe music consumption will be like any other utility. In as much as the typical person always pays their monthly bills on time, so they will pay for their music subscription. Netflix has almost already become like that. In terms of trust, what do you need to trust? With a subscription service you get everything. If one closes you switch to another and continue to get everything. Look at Rdio: other services provided ways to migrate playlists. Lastly in terms of cost, aren't Apple Music and Spotify the same price? Believe they are here in the US.

i don't mind much Apple removes TV shows/Movies on iTunes due to license expired, but I have a big issue with removing music i have in my playlist...

so this is why i only have Apple music so i can grab everything...... if Apple really wants to make peple happy, then copyright holders should finally be aware of streaming....

Sorry, but it's been too long.... and they still resist putting everything on services....

They go their way, i go mine :)

After spending thousands of dollars on music over the years--I am very content to just stream and have no plans to ever buy another song again.

I'd like to interject with a response you probably won't find very helpful, but I like owning my music. I'd like to know that if I gave up streaming music that I can keep my songs. At the same time there is something very addictive about listening to whatever I want with Music. With that said, I always download or select the offline mode with any song I have just in case my signal is weak.

I'm of the opinion that, like with Netflix, people will get used to renting music. It will take longer than it has with video, since there is more of an emotional connection with music, but soon enough it will happen. As the generations that only ever rented music get a bit older, they will not understand why anyone would want to own music, other than the niche of owning vinyl :)

I own over 900 CDs which occupy a good chunk of a garden shed. I'll buy a CD, FLAC it, 320Kbps MP3 it, move the MP3 to my iTunes library, copy both FLAC and MP3 to external disk, intermittently burn both to DVD (and a duplicate DVD), and file the CD in the shed. The DVDs get to stay indoors.

Written down it looks far more time-consuming that it actually is, but I do like to own my music in physical form.

Maybe I'm just old school but although I subscribe to Netflix and Amazon prime video, 80% of the digital videos I consume are ones that I've purchased out right from iTunes or Amazon. I gave up on the steaming services a long time ago as they just don't interest me.

You subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime, but "gave up on the streaming services"? What does that mean?
