i'm so jealous you not only get hummingbirds, but get them all year! they migrate here and i never see many of them in the summer - often just once. but my daughter bought me a new, pretty all red glass feeder for christmas that i am excited to use in the spring, so maybe i'll get more this year.
If you put out the feeder they will come and you will have few , if it doesn’t get too cold for too long, in the fall and winter as it happened here. Lately we are having colder than usual winters but so far they survive.
I guess they shelter near chimneys. I noticed few times they were pretty dirty

no, we normally have them from april to october or so....it does get too cold here (most years at least).

One challenge with hummingbird feeders is when honey bees find them. Once a hive locks on to one, they’ll clean it out quickly and hummingbirds stay away. A friend offered a solution—get a second feeder and keep it closer to the hive, and as long as you keep both stocked the more distant one gets left alone.
No bees for now but since last year I take the feeder away during nighttime because we have squirrels pretty smart and they create such a mess beside drinking it : they swing the feeder to be able to get some nectar and I have to clean everything!

So bessides taking control of my old 4x5 negs, I've also been sorting through stuff in storage. This is mom's old light meter from the 1940s or early '50s. It worked when I put it into storage in 2011. Now it's dead as a doornail. Left the photocell exposed in a south window for several days and still no movement. May put it on display with some of my other camera gear.

This seems more like a vintage item, rather than something that you see or participate in an everyday scenario but I do really love that you have saved photo stuff from your mother. 🙂

Sitting in traffic. "Everyday" indeed! A lot of things cause traffic slowdowns here, the usual suspects apply like "too many dang cars" but also the sun. A lot of this particular drive is directly into the sun.
The light in these is really beautiful.....but honestly I can't imagine using a real camera while driving (even at a stoplight)...I can't even get good images as a passenger in the front seat!

A "win-win" for people who also like honey

Actually once I dove into the storage area I kinda kept going. Too much stuff dragged along from too many moves and too many other lives. The light meter was different from the multitude of items which made their way to the trash that day. It was something that got at least a temporary reprieve, despite my having no good reason to keep it other than some pleasant memories.

Every day… ?

Ceiling light shade.
It hangs up there in my studio, barely used, taken for granted. Ordinary, but much needed.

My favorite mug: it was a gift from my sister. It's off limits from every one else

Everyday I have lunch .....

yes, these everyday items are always worth documenting and looking back on in a few years. 🙂

This is a really clever, graphic image.

Managed to squeeze one in just in time. Walking to the station over Waterloo Bridge in London, UK this afternoon, something I've done hundreds of times but never recorded. Z50 + 28mm f/2.8.

I'm glad that you captured something you wouldn't have otherwise.

Will likely add another post later. I was traveling for work this week so not a lot of everyday things for me.
I am home now and this is one of my favorite pairs of shoes. Quick shot.

Commuting this week: changing trains in Gowanus, Brooklyn on a dreary day midweek; right about at the office on a welcome sunny day, with a telephoto in the bag and looking up, in the Financial District of downtown Manhattan (that's part the NYSE's pedimented facade).
love the diptych! i'm itching to plan another trip back to the city; we've been going 1-2x a year lately....i'm thinking we should steal away for a couple of days over my kids' spring break.

Out and about earlier today. Besides the fresh snow the temp was about -15°C.
