I can't say its my style but i appreciate it. I like the fact that your not afraid to do that to your machine because it adds sentimental value to you
Exactly!! Who cares how amazing the actual artwork is (It is quite nice, btw). Every time the OP sees this, it will remind him of his sister. To me, things like that are worth more than simple resale value concerns or how acclaimed the artwork.

Emotional value > Resale value

Cool idea to do that, but it irks me that you did it upside down.

So, what were you adding to this thread by claiming, a few times now, that it "looks like a 5 year old drew it"? I must have missed the actual critique part where you offered up some improvement suggestions.

Someone, who cares how old they are, made the artwork on the lid of this laptop, and the OP seems to genuinely appreciate it and wanted to show it. Instead of just bashing it and then getting defensive, maybe offer up some of your divine artistic wisdom so they can improve. You seem to think this "5 year old" could use it.

dude just go away. i dont care what you think or say, so stop wasting your time.

Why do you even say no offense when you already know your statement will cause offense. If you really meant no offense to the poster then you would have kept your mouth shut in both of his post.

When you think of it ... I'm sure he really didn't mean to offend ... but it makes you rethink our way of speech in the english language and just how easy and careless it is to just say sorry like it automatically excuses one for the offense done; no regret. Not to attack anyone really but some languages don't really have an equal meaning for words like sorry or phrases like I apologize. Just goes to show that sometimes our words may not fit our intent or gestures.

I think in a cute way that art looks good. Its a HELL of a lot better than I can draw and the background helps me appreciate it much more.

I think its kind of neat actually incorporating art and a poem together. Even though its not to my taste I can appreciate the fact that it's a project that was completed that means something to the OP.

Some people on this thread have no clue about art obviously  I'm pretty sure no one would like my art but it makes me happy so thats all that matters.

Also did anyone notice the OP's link to those markers? They look REALLY permanent  I'd be way to afraid of messing up!

I think the reason so many people don't like this is that they could not come up with an original idea like op's and thus the unhappy fanboys. Please get over yourselves. It's art, art is subjective. If op is happy then who are you to disagree?

I like it. It may or may not be the actual drawing but the idea behind it, that's what art is all about.

Art is not only about ideas behind them. It is about how the viewer portrays the art and how the feel from viewing it and there thoughts on why the artist did it.

(Yes I am an art student in every single field, traditional and digital)

I dont like it, however that is my opinion which I am entitled too. I am sure others will like it and if the owner of the macbook likes it and thought so much of his sister to draw it then that is great and thats what matters.

Good post.

As I said before, I don't like it either. Actually it's not THAT bad. I do give the OP's sister credit for creating something original, as some of you have stated. But the simple fact that it's different shouldn't automatically warrant praise. When I walk into the galleries of a museum and see all the fine art, I won't necessarily like every piece. For instance, Rothko (not a big fan).

Yeah, those trees and that sun show NO artistic creativity in my book.

Sufi chanting must make you really high.

Being an artist myself, I'd say the only thing that was a good idea was the big flowers she drew. It has a nice style, and I would have loved to see just those flowers maybe in the bottom left corner and that's it. The rest is too fundamental, like the trees. I don't know what the words mean but if she should have made a defined shape like wind or something. If you end up not liking it or selling it, a magic clean eraser should take it off with a bit of water and leave the macbook off for a couple days after.

Overall, good idea. If I was to do this I would have planned it a bit more but that's just me. If you're happy with it thats all that matters :)

cheesy poetry though, she should have completed the first prose to add 'basera ker paharon kee chitano per' and that would have stopped Iqbal twitching in his grave.
