Every new version of iOS brings more and more features that were "borrowed" from the jailbreak community. That gap has closed so much in recent years it's almost not even worth jailbreaking anymore.

Chinese hackers don't exactly have the best reputation around the world so if I WAS to jailbreak out of sheer boredom I still would be hesitant to run a Pangu jailbreak.

Let's just agree to disagree and not end up offending each other.

I'm a bit concerned on your sentiment that when someone from China builds a jailbreak, they're a "hacker" yet when someone form the USA builds a jailbreak, they're a "developer" ... I think you ought to consider the fact that China's population is four times that of the United States, and the sheer fact that iPhone is now being sold in China, more people are working on jailbreaks. I go to China once a month, and I'm a bit offended that you seem to think of China as some rogue terrorist hacking nation. LOL

So you trust the Chinese to build and install the hardware and software on your phone but not mod it?

Highly logical. Done with this argument, it's clearly not going anywhere as you seem to have some prejudice about any mod coming from China... my guess is you have no issue with apps, cases, or products coming from China though, which is a bit hypocritical. Good luck to you.

Some people don't let logic and or rationality ruin an argument. Ironic considering the name Armen has an origin from Armenia, whom he shares cultural ties with the ever so smart and logical Kardashians.

;)

So by mocking my views on the subject I'm supposed to change my mind? Do you work for Samsung's marketing team by chance also? :p

Another Apple apologist. Lovely.

f.lux, springtomize, bytafont, iFile, activator, winterboard. To name a few.

All amazing apps, but as far as Armen is concerned, they are made by Chinese hackers and not American developers.

How is this conversation turning from "I don't want a jailbreak by chinese dev group I don't trust" to all of China being untrustable. I have nothing against the chinese for crying out loud.

Chinese hackers DO have a bed rep around the world though because when a country's computer networks are attacked the source seems to be Russia or China. If this Jaibreak was released by Russians I wouldn't install it either :p

f.lux, springtomize, bytafont, iFile, activator, winterboard. To name a few.

f.lux: lived without it forever so don't care for it and don't even use it on my Macbook.

bytafont: Even the few years I was jailbroken I didn't care enough to change the fonts.

iFile: All Apple has to do is release a finder app in iOS 9 and you can kiss this app goodbye.

activator: Used it for a while, pretty cool but sometimes you forget what gestures you added.

Winterboard: aka Slowdownyourphoneboard. Was fun at first "look at my phone it looks like Android hehehe" and then it got old. Why? Because there is NO theme out there that has a complete set of icons for every app so uniformity goes out the window.

You forgot to mention Gridlock (Which I love but can still live without).

No sign of lack of education there. LOL. If the Chinese make something, you won't install it. But if the chinese make a product, you'll use it.

I'm fairly certain "I don't want to install a chinese jailbreak on my phone with apple pay" means you don't trust them. Not trusting them is the CAUSE and not wanting a chinese jailbreak is the EFFECT.

If you're going to argue, be logical.

So if you have a response to being able to live without and not wanting any of these popular jailbreak tweaks, why are you posting in a jailbreak forum? Sounds like the stock iOS is just fine for you. Unless you're just here to troll *gasp*

First off, read the forum you are in. This is NOT the jailbreak forum

Secondly, My views are set so there is no point for you to keep coming at me and challenging my view.

Third, you and maybe 1 other person has devoted so much energy in trying to convince me that I'm wrong that you have hi jacked the thread.

Maybe a mod can change the thread title to "Armen doesn't trust Pangu jailbreak let's get him!"

The subject is jailbreak has been released for iOS 8...

The thread is located within the jailbreak forum topic group...

If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck...

Hmm the location is not the same as it was yesterday. I know this for a fact because I don't even go to the jailbreak sub forum. Whatever the case.

hey with all those fixes and what not over the past few days its kinda hard to keep up ... could someone explain it step by step again with the current status?

1. disable passcode, touchid & find my iphone
2. jailbreak using pangu x.0.1
3. reboot and tap the pangu app to update to x.0.2
fixes imessage, safari
4. install cydia using the ssh method

5. do not open cydia and do this to fix the bootloop with passcode enabled
http://www.jailbreaknation.com/pangu8-bootloop-fix-do-not-open-cydia-until-you-have-done-this
is this step still neccessary or has cydia been updated by now?

6. open cydia & update mobile sub
respring no longer neccessary and bootloop with some tweaks has been fixed?
7. go crazy installing ios8 supported tweaks

is that about right?

Just a warning.

That modification to Cydia is almost certainly going to break compatibility with the official updated version of Cydia, and you will almost certainly have to restore to complete that upgrade.

FWIW - my 2c:

I don't have a problem with the developer being Chinese - I have no issue with Chinese developers in general - but I do have an issue with THIS Chinese developer.

What with all the crap from last time (stolen code, bundling things without permission, etc) I don't trust them. The original jailbreakers did it because they could. It's quite clear that this group have only started doing it so they could gain financially. And when there's money involved, morals generally go out the window.

so if i dont modify it i just have to make sure i have passcode disabled if i need to reboot (which rarely ever happens)?

could i just turn it off when i need to reboot and enable it again once its rebooted?

"Probably?"

Try it and let us know how that works out :)

Pretty good tutorial  How did it go for you?

Well, technically, this section IS a jailbreak forum. It says it right in the name. Who cares if Chinese "hackers" made this jailbreak? The other teams check the jailbreak and let everyone know it's safe.

Armen reminds me of some dude saying in other forum:

"Let's hope these chinese don't hack our phones with the jailbreak", I'm paraphrasing.

We can't agree to disagree if you are a bigot and state it as an " valid viewpoint", that's low man.

No way in HELL would I jailbreak my iphone with Apple Pay enabled on it.

I don't think you understand how Apple pay works. First of all your credit card numbers are not even stored on the phone period. Once a card is activated with Apple pay... Only the bank has the number. your phone sends the bank a secure id number stored on a chip on the phone... This number can not be assessed... It also sends a Touch ID confirmation... That also can't be remotely faked... Then the bank uses a dynamic one time credit card number that can only be used once and has to match the ID and Touch ID confermation within a very limited time.... Apple pay is one of the safest digital payment methods ever created... Jailbreaking poses no threat.

I dunno what's the point of this jailbreak right now, twice I had to completely restore because my Plus jbroken with Pangu it just gets stuck in a boot loop even the Safe Mode restart would not help getting out of it.

Just beware, I would rather have a fully functional iOS relatively :( bug free right now jailbreak causes nothing but problems booting up etc and very few tweaks can actually run on iOS 8.

Just maybe it was NOT meant for you....let's see ... Are you a Dev?
If not, It was not meant for you....

I know how Apple Pay works. I just wouldn't risk it that's all.

Then jailbreaking isn't for you, never has been, and never will be. Any time you modify what's allowed to access your root file structure you're compromising security. It's a risk many are willing to take for the upside, but clearly you're too conservative and it's not for you, regardless of who releases it.
