Montezuma's Well ; in Arizona ; has nothing to do with the late Aztec ruler , but I guess they had to name it something
besides 'Big flooded sinkhole out in the desert" .
15 shot pano stitched in Affinity Photo . There's what's left of a cliff dwelling just below the far rim left of center.

I haven't been there since 1975 as a 17yoo_O
the trebuchet wasn't there then

(just remembered that my avatar photo was taken not long before that road trip)

Wow

I’m sure we’d all like to know an old vs new comparison.

FREE PANORAMIC SOFTWARE!
While Photoshop, Lightroom and others now offer panoramic blending, I have never been happy with it as it so crackerbox and outputs fully cropped which can be an issue. Very easy to crop and fill in out of frame areas.

Historically, I've used PTGui, but now getting error messages, which when I ignore, it still works, and of course, no support. After being hounded each time I opened it, looked into purchasing the upgrade - no thanks. Then I discovered PTGui's #1 competitor, Autopano Giga that I originally decided between the two, was purchased by Kolor.com and it is now offered for free!

IMPORTANT NOTE: below the operating system download links is a note for user name and registration you will need after download and first opening it to register the software.

For the most part I've been pleased with AffinityPhoto. Usually I do some skew correction after the blend but before cropping. Earlier days I did them by hand which generally worked very well but was extremely time consuming.

My newer cameras all have built in levels. Using the levels to get rid of tip and tilt definitely makes for a better final product.

One final note: I prefer working from JPEGs over RAW as the RAW images are not corrected for lens distortion, and that can degrade the final blend. This would be less of an issue if using a good quality prime lens, but I am typically in the wide angle portion of a high ratio zoom lens.
