Hey all, I figured this would be the area to post it, because Parallels 10 is most likely coming out specifically for Yosemite. What features do you think are coming to the new version? The big one last year was Win8 & Mavericks support with iPad compatibility. I usually upgrade every couple of years, hope it will be worth it after holding off last year.

Duff-Man says...it'll probably be much like most Parallels upgrades - improved compatibility with Windoze XX....improved compatibility with OS X vXX...50x speed improvements over previous. That's not to say it won't be worthwhile, but for me I find Parallels to be an app I upgrade every other version, or when it's on offer at a super deal in a bundle (which is very often...I've never paid full $ for an upgrade and I've been a user since v1)....oh yeah!
Parallels deveopers already said that they were working on updates to make Parallels 9 fully compatible with Yosemite. They might reserve the ability to run Yosemite as a VM for version 10, though. Last time I checked their forums, they hadn't said for sure how they were approaching that, though.
Since version 3, a new version of Parallels has been released every single year since '07. I've been a user since v4 in '08 and only skipped version 6. I usually come across a bundle or discount deal and get a less than the $49 upgrade charge.
I can definitely see them releasing a Parallels 10 for OS X 10.10. Typically they released Sept-Nov timeframe.

And it works just fine, absolutely no problems with running windows on Yosemite.
They were working on running Yosemite as a VM, not running a VM on Yosemite. In fact, Parallels itself has run fine on Yosemite since DP1. It's just creating a Yosemite virtual machine that's a bit of an issue.

I hope that this framework will end the yearly breaking of VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop because a new OS X gets released.
I don't think that Parallels and VMware will use this to get their apps into the Mac App Store (no paid upgrades

Unfortunately, that isn't the case. Parallels and VMWare have too much vested in forced upgrades. Parallels 8 worked just fine with Yosemite DP1, but suddenly with DP5 it won't run and throw up an error message urging downloading Parallels 9 for $49.99 (promising an update to Parallels 10).
I have been a user since parellels v5 an didn't skip any versions. but I think it's time to stop it.
Parallels is kinda ripping-off since there were minor differences between each version and the upgrade charge is so high. and I think I no longer need to run windows now since anything I wanted to could be done with OSX.

I upgrade every time a new one comes out because I game a lot in my VM (yes, I'm one of those who games on his VM) and, IMO, every new major version of Parallels has brought very good gaming improvements. On Parallels 8 I was unable to play most games and on Parallels 9 I can play almost all of them.
I expect Parallels 10 to bring more gaming improvements and because I always use the student's discount, the upgrade always costs me 40 bucks. I've never believed in the 50x performance improvement they always advertise, but as far as gaming improvements go I do see the benefits.
And I did try gaming with VMWare Fusion, but its performance with games is not as good as with Parallels.

Been using Version 8 for quite sometime now. Recently upgraded to 9 coz Parallels emailed me that i would get a free upgrade to a new version of Parallels for Yosemite. So i bit the bullet and bought it.

If they charge it for 49.99 for old users decide not to make PD9 compatible with Yosemite, I call it ripoff.

It's like you got a car then the car company tells you you need to upgrade the car for 60% of it's original price because we just release a new model and Your car is no longer compatible with the roads and will not be supported anymore that means if anything happens to your car you need to pay full price to fix it up and all the insurances you have purchased before are now expired (we didn't even tell you that).

I just installed again DP6 (DP2-3-4-5-6) and Parallels 9 is still working fine.. For the time being will not move to 10 and/or VM Fusion . Still not used Parallels Access from mobile device yet. Is someone use it ? What is the advantage of Parallels access then other VNC remote access apps?
I agree completely. If Parallels 9 is not officially fixed for Yosemite, then I am for sure moving to Fusion.
Based on the Parallels Forum, it's hit or miss. They've promised a fix for those for which it doesn't work.
