RC1 is great, the many small tweaks since beta6 really make a difference, networking and screen display issues i had are now gone. Its really quick!

Pre-ordered it just in case Leopard doesnt have integrated virtualisation, hell i might still use Parallels if it does! :)

Still can't get this working right on my iMac despite unchecking that box, just shows 4:3 resolutions, nothing 16:9 so I get bars either side of the display :(

Any ideas? Otherwise it's great!

Cheers,
Adam

I am not aware of any 3d hardware (at least used in Apple's) that supports virtualization. That's the fundamental issue here.

Yeah, it seems to me like what Parallels desperately needs is a way to make video cards virtualize. Although even then, you'll have other hardware that is directly accessed that isn't virtual...meaning that for things like games, it'll probably never be ideal.

I'm actually using it right now. one cool thing they added is like 7 or 8 new transitions between OSes in addition to the cube flip. anyone else check those out? i like the "warp".

never tried it, but I don't see why not.

I got clonedvd2 to work at ripping and shrinking, but disc burning isnt supported in parallels, so I simply put the ripped file into the parallels shared folder and then burned the files with toast.

Ok, I don't get how this works. So I have my Parallels window sitting in OS X, at 1024*768 on my 20" monitor, so I can use OS X and Windows easily, in OS X. But now I want to go full screen - I click the full screen button, and with the default settings (both allow to change guest res., and allow to change OS X res. selected), it simply stretches my 1024*768 to full screen, and leaves black bars on either side. Eugh. When I choose to just have allow to change OS X res., it simple gives me 1024*768 on a black background..

I don't understand - why can't it upscale the res. to 1680*1050 when I hit fullscreen?

Thanks.

DONT tell it to change OS X resolution. Just tell it to change the Guest Res. That's the solution.

Untick Host, Tick Guest.

When I do that, I just get the resolution I am using it on in the small window inside OS X, but with a black border all the way round. It doesn't change res. - stays the same, but centres the screen, and covers the rest of the area in black.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Ahhhh.. Parallels tools.. *hits head*

It does flicker and resize for a couple of seconds before getting into the right res., but it works. :)

Thanks.

what I don't understand is why you have to install parallels tools. everyone wants to use them, right? why don't they just come as part of the program?

Because they are only for XP and not Windows 98/2000 and Linux.

'Zoom' is nifty.
