A bit off-topic but VMWare Fusion is on 50% off sale right now. I like it much better than the Parallels.

(I'm in no way affiliated with VMWare)

EDIT: Link below. Thanks iW00t

I used an 18 gig BootCamp partition to store Vista Ultimate.

I used to have a 10 gig, but I filled it up pretty quickly. I don't plan on using the partition for much other than testing now and then and keeping an eye on the competition. ;-)

(I am going to have Parallels use the BC partitition.)

BTW, Vista sucks something fierce. Not even saying that as an Apple guy..I am just shocked at how bad and buggy it is. I was unimpressed with Apple's "Top Secret" features, but at least Apple had the balls to delay Leopard for quality reasons. Vista needed another 8 months of polish, consistency, and bug fixing...

1) 8000mb or 7.81gb (1.67gb free)
2) don't use bootcamp
3&4) iirc parallels does allow you to resize the guest OS drive (at least for xp pro sp2)

fwiw, i have win xp pro sp2 and some major apps that i installed are:

AVG

zone alarm

chemoffice ultra

office 2007

HP navigation

WMP 11

sony ericsson update services

sony ericsson pc suite

winzip

trillian

firefox

parallels tools

These apps are about what i will run.
So I am a bit confused--
1) If all I need is 8GB to run this, why are people saying there is a recommended default of 30GB for parallels.
2) Can I save files created on the PC side (ie Word 2007), onto the Mac side? If not, I can definitely access the PC side's data, on the Mac end, right?
3) What exactly is a virtual disk in this whole thing?
Here is a quote from someone that I was hoping someone could explain?
"If you're talking about making a virtual disk though there is little reason not to allow for a little extra space (my 30GB Windows XP virtual disk takes up less than 2GB). I would just recommend going with the default virtual disk size if you're not sure how much space you need."
