I use Fusion on my MacPro and it is rock solid and performs well. I let each VM have 2 gb RAM and 2 Processor cores. Windows XP performs better than it ever did on any PC based hardware. My other VM is Ubuntu Linux which also runs very well

Last I checked VirtualBox can only use 2 cores whereas the others can use more if you have them to spare. I know this is not an issue for most but with 8 and 12 core machines around it could be.

Used both, here's my take:

Fusion
+ Stability
+ Good customer support
- Slower

Parallels
+ Significantly faster
+ More customization and features
- More bugs than Fusion
- Horrible customer support
- Ugliest icon you'll ever put on your dock

Hearing that PD 6 runs faster than VMW 3, I downloaded the free trial of PD and compared the VMW that I already have. Running Windows XP Pro SP3, the boot time was 56 sec in VMW and 35 sec in PD. I guess I'll be paying $39 to purchase the PD6 (upgrade from fusion option). Tip: if you don't already have fusion, download the trial version for free ;)

Thanks to those that pointed out PD being faster.

How many times do people even use the "commercial support" from these companies ?

Businesses, companies and corporations. Many will not rely on free programs unless they have some type of support system in place. Down time can cost them money.

I dunno how you messed up in Virtualbox, but the hypervisor has nothing to do with it. I installed about 3 dozens flavors of Linux with it and never had a problem. Your post is of course light on details, as all the Virtualbox detractor posts are.

Nice, since you have no problems with virtualbox, they must & cannot not exist elsewhere. Also interesting since you claim my post is so light on details, yet you say hypervisor has nothing to do with it...in other words...you don't really know. Since that problem cropped up a year ago, virtualbox must of finally fixed the problem.
