In the two years how much did you use the battery? If you used it alot, then it is to be expected that the battery will begin to not hold as much power. You could try a recalibration and see if that does anything.

In answering this question, tell us how many cycles are reported on your battery. You should expect your battery to last out to about 300-350 cycles, with poor battery performance after that. By poor, I'm not exactly sure what I mean, but probably something like <20% of original capacity. If you have more than 200 cycles, I think your number isn't surprising, but if you have <100 cycles, it is very low.

(For reference, my iBook is almost exactly two years old, has 126 cycles, and is at about 2700 vs. the original ~4200 or whatever it was).

yeah i really wanna keep the battery as a backup one if i can any uk people who can shed some light on this ?

As I live(d) in the UK, I hopefully can shed some light on this. Within the warranty period of my 12" PB I had a problem with the power adaptor... in that it just stopped working. I called Apple and they said they'd send me a new one and that I'd have to send the old (non-functioning) one back. Obviously it would be a bit of a pain if you had to wait until they'd received yours before they'd send the new one so what they seem to do is to take your credit card details and then if they don't receive yours within like 14 days of them having sent yours then they charge you for it, in the case of my adaptor I think it was about £60.

Incidentally, I sent it back and they still charged me, so I had to call them up, explain it. They passed it on to their accounting dept., IIRC, who credited it back no problem.

So, as for keeping the old ("non-functioning") one, I think you're S.O.L. on that matter.

I am not clear by what you mean as alot. I would say it has been plugged in for 95% of it's lifetime. I bought it so i could take it to a few places but all of these places had electricity so it was never really unplugged.

Secondly how do I go about "re-calibrating it??"
