I’m having the same issue. I had low storage and the phone tried to update over night, making it so my apps wouldn’t open the next day. I tried turning my phone off then back on.....apple loop. I tried Dr. Fone....waste of money. I heard apple knows how to repair it but won’t because they want you to learn your lesson and buy more iCloud storage. They’re the worst.

Hi VKumar9144
Your suggestion is very relevant, can you post it to Jessa Jonse (iPad Rehab) in the Youtube commenting area, she might be starting some lead communications with Apple.
@Zgold
Please your inputs about a petition suggested by @Vkumar9144 is highly appreciated!!

you can see a lot of painful stories, unfortunately nothing came from Apple yet.

It is worth mentioning that, some folks checked out memory data recovery thro. data recovery specialist, no success yet. Prior fixing Error code.14 I'm afraid that data recovery can't be viable.

i am having similar issue with iphone XR … i woke up in the morning today to find my iphone storage full… tried to delete some apps and videos but they were not deleting and then all of a sudden my iphone is stuck on the apple logo. I have 1 year of pictures and videos of my 2 year old which i have not transferred or backed up. Tried force starting and updating the phone in recovery mode and it is showing Error 14..... . i have not tried up any third party apps yet but from reading the above comments, i dont think they are of any good. Hopefully, Apple will come up with a solution to fix this issue as this is totally unexpected and i do not want to restore and loose all my photos and videos. You buy such an expensive phone and this is what happens.

They should have sold the phone with a disclaimer that “ ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST IF YOUR STORAGE GETS FULL” .

Android phones dont have this issue. I have been loyal to Apple for 10 years now and if i lose my photos and videos, i am surely going to stop buying Iphones, if Apple is unable to resolve this issue.

Is there email or contact of senior person in APPLE to whom we can address this issue to come out with “A SOLUTION TO FIX THIS COMMON ISSUE”????

It's extremely important to keep AT LEAST!!! 5% of total disk space free, better 10-15% as with C:\ drive on Win. And even more important to make weekly backups... I would really recommend to get iMazing and set automatic Wi-Fi backups (>guide<), it saves lives sometimes.

To OP: did you have a chance to take it to repair shop?

Wow. Your issue with the apps and videos not deleting is exactly what I was experiencing  . I don’t understand when when I’m trying to free up space the phone doesn't let me then just gets stuck in boot loop and then everything’s gone:mad::mad::mad:. It’s good to know I’m not alone with this issue. I really hope Apple fixes this!

A petition is not a bad idea, but in order for it to have some effect, it needs to be something that comes up at the top on a Google search for error 14. That way people from all over the world can chime in, and it gets traction.

I have pitched the story to a tech journalist, and still waiting to hear back. I know that he approached Apple with this.

Hi everyone, not sure of this is the right place.
Need help

Just came back from Apple, did not go to restore stage as i hold hopes of getting back my data.

It all started with
1) Data Storage full.
2) Deleted some files.
3) Restart
4) keep restarting
5) contacted Apply support
6) Recovery mode
7) Updates
8) The iPhone ïPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (14)
9) Do the updates again, same message.
10) Make appointment to Orchard Apple.
11) Did the recovery- Update- Same error, did it twice.
12) Genius say to restore and lost data.
13) i walk away pinning hope, someone smarter than Genius have a hack.

Thanks for reading.

Do throw me ideas. or best someone who actually recovered from this, how was it done?

Restore the phone and setup as new without using a backup and the phone will be fine. Running out of space on an iPhone doesn't end well. Basically depending on what you want to put back on the phone after you restore it can't go over the storage limit of the device. If your backup is too big, your out of luck.. That's why you should offload all unnecessary data onto a separate drive well before you get to the storage capacity limit.. Tons of stories like yours on this and many other forums, there is no resolution to your problem if you want to keep all the data...

Apple, please fix this! Shouldn't be that hard to alter the update process: deinstall some apps (offloading) and then install the ios update. or create a tool to get the data from the "frozen" phone. with password/apple id for safety reasons etc.

Just get my data back!

Nice, apple found a new way to annoy me: after trying again to update the iphone, it automatically restored the phone. So, it killed everything on it… after having it in the drawer most of the times for over a year… and NO, I did not want it to restore! I specifically opted to update (without erasing my data). Most absurd thing about it: after that, I read that there might be a new solution to solve the error 14 problem wirh 3utools (windows program). I hate apple right now…

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago.
