Weird. Yours is linking at 16x and 2.5GT. I'm still only linking at 8x and 2.5GT. Thanks for sharing that with me. What bootROM are you running on yours? Also, your Cl!ing test seems to show the score for your CPU not the GPU under OpenCL.

Yep, You are right:oops: Here's the CL!ng GPU test:

Still very different from CUDA-Z.

Boot ROM 140.0.0.0.0 in HS.

Also you may want to try OceanWave. That shows true xfer speed. Again, I stated this before, 2.5 GBS is FUD (purely cosmetic)

Card is pooched. Disappointing, but such is life. Time to upgrade I guess. Wonder if it's still faster than my original 5770 card with these lower scores.... Thanks for your help everyone.

Flowrider, I would imagine I should be seeing link speeds similar to your 1080 card with this 750....

Where did you buy your 750ti. Perhaps a chinese fake card.

It was purchased used so not really a big deal. It’s too bad but sometimes this happens. Was about $80 Canadian but the market here isn’t the same as the US. Everything is more expensive with gpus.

Looking at a 900 series card next. 970s here are about $100.

There’s actually a small resistor on the back that was split. +1 to tsialex for mentioning that in an earlier post. I noticed it last night. Not sure if it’s fixable but I’ll post a photo later showing the offending part.

Attaching the two pics showing the offending part that I suspect is causing crap link speeds. No idea if these are replaceable.... tsialex? You can actually see the crack in the blurry photo.

Is it worth doing? Might be fun to try and fix it...

The problem is to identify and buy that SMD transistor/diode. After that is easy to replace it with a hot air rework station.

If it's Q513, it's a transistor.

Thanks for replying. Do you think this is causing that 8x link issue I'm having? I have a lot of patience and a steady hand...

Wondering what the right forum would be to ask about hot air and solder advice? I've done some small jobs, but want to get more involved in doing this type of work.

Can't say for sure, If I had the GPU here I would trace the signals from the PCIe connector, seems a good bet.

I learned by myself to do the basic then and some $$$$ workshops to do advanced things and operate high end rework equipment, probably some one here can point you into the right direction.
[doublepost=1550029631][/doublepost]I don't want to discourage you, but for sure you will spend multiple times the price of the GPU with all the needed rework equipment and supplies.

For me it's a hobby that will never pay itself.

I'm sure the equipment is pricey, but this is fascinating to me and the cost isn't a big deal. Having a hobby is critical. This would be a good starting point. Card works, but I'd like to try to get it working at full speed for the sheer interest factor.

Appreciate your feedback as always.

First thing is to be sure that is a transistor, then check if it's possible to identify it, seems the top SMD markings are missing.

I'd try to find if the circuit is NPN or PNP then install a generic transistor to troubleshoot.

There is a stamping in the plastic. Very hard to photograph with an iPhone. I'll have to find a better camera or magnifying glass to read what's stamped in it. I'll post when I have time and would appreciate your thoughts on next steps to take.

I had this problem last year with an HIS HD 7950 . .I fixed it by removing ALL PCI cards except the GPU. Shut down, re-started . . Voila ! " x 16

Lol. It’s the only card in the tower. Never had any others. Just got this machine and there’s a cracked resistor/transistor that’s the problem.
