The cable is never used for data transmission. Even if it was, it wouldn't affect power supply.

I mean, the AC power cord can't deliver the sufficient power to the 3G radio. That causes strain and in the end causes the battery to be used up instead of charging in order to compensate the needed energy.

Still has nothing to do with the cord though ;)

...if it did, the cord would get hot, and eventually melt off all the insulation separating the wires... and then short and then stop charging. Obviously that's not happening (an amp at 5V is really not that much current; it'd take a lot more to cause this to happen to an iPod charge cable).
