iPad Pro Pencil Hover not working unless I tap the screen first?

I just received the new M2 but Hover does not work at all…. I’m still on 16.0. Is that the reason?

try to do a “reset all settings” and see if it solves it…

Could it be that hovering is not included in 16.0 ? I don’t want to update to 16.1.1 because of the yellow screen smearing in another thread. Stage manager does not work either. It says I need to upgrade

Yes you need 16.1. But as you noted updating to that will bring that smearing/yellowing bug with it. Hover is not that big a deal and you only have a couple weeks to wait for 16.2.

I have tried all the solutions and I still can't get my iPad pro along with my pencil #2 to hover. I am thinking I may have to take this down to factory settings. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

You tried deactivating Display Zoom in your settings? This fixed the problem for me
