There will be scratches. You just probably hadn’t noticed. Apple Pencil scratches the glass with normal use, whether doodling, signing of documents or doing basic stylus stuff. Probably not deep scratches but scratches nonetheless which would require more discerning attention during inspection. Some people are that fastidious when purchasing if such claims are made in the description. I describe my devices as such because of the kind of care I employ during ownership.
Lets say after I’ve read posts off and on over the years of people asking about this, I have examined my iPads with the screen off, with a flashlight and the screen an inch from my eyes. Maybe a jeweler could possibly detect something but I’m quite confident no one else could. So in any description I’m always confident in stating pristine and never had it disputed. Would I stick it into a box and call it brand new, no, but I’d defy anyone to be able to tell by looking at it.

Screen protectors are a no-brained for me. Especially when I plan to resell. Love when the buyer is totally amazed at the like-new condition when purchasing from me. I have given that experience to buyers of my old products since my 3GS. Last product I sold was my iPad Pro 10.5, 512GB cell variant with all original equipment in original box at a killer deal. I like to pass on a great deal because I have had the fortune of being on the receiving end of phenomenal deals.

Example: I got the M1 iPad Pro 11 256Gb cellular version exactly 1 month after release in June of ‘21 for $400 even. Immediately put a data plan on it and it is what I’m typing on now. Love this thing. So I passed on the savings when I sold my 10.5. The dude was thankful and damn near in tears (no joke). That made me feel great, blessing a fellow human being.

Oh and I recently purchased (like 3 weeks ago literally) an M1 12.9 iPad Pro 2 terabyte cellular variant - brand new in box for $1100 out the door. Original price is $2,400. Less than half price. Year warranty and 2 free Apple services trials. Tech Gods have shone their lights on me…lol
I am doing the same. All my devices are sold as brand new. Last time my friend have bought my Macbook Pro 2018 without a scratch. Before he bought it he had doubts and wrote me that he is not sure to buy it from me that he will be pissed when something will be wrong. I told him there will be nothing wrong, I keep my devices safe and protected in cotton. I do not understand your concern (you are speaking about my devices which I care more than my girlfriend 😁)
When he saw my Macbook Pro he was very amazed that it is in superb condition and told me: what the ****, did you even use it? I never had notebook few years in such condition. It is 100 % as new I can not believe it.

Here comes BUT. I am thinking now that I do not like that I pay all the time full prices for new gadgets and than use it with extreme caution, keeping in expensive pockets and well protected and someone other gets the same very cheap. Now I have bad feeling when I am making such swaps. Yes, it is nice that you have great devices for sale but the true fact is YOU NEVER ENJOY YOUR DEVICES SO MUCH because of this care. Then other people pay half price of your devices and enjoy all benefits. You should be enjoying the gadgets, the premium condition, not people who are buying it second hand From you. Are you really happy from it? Are you happy that you watch superb screen with foil on it which decrease the quality??

So, I recommend do not take care so much to keep your devices in 100 % for sale and use it with joy that you could afford it. Do not think about the resell value in the first place when you buy the device.
I know that it is hard to do because I continue with the same extreme care when handling my 14 Macbook Pro, I do not use the advantage of fast boot the display lid because I do not keep it on the table without covers and after each use I put it in case. But it starts to be old and I could enjoy it much more.
Dont be satisfied that you sell premium devices in 100 % condition as new. You should be sad that someone other is buying "new devices" for half or third price..

That is my point of view which I want to change the perception. It is the same with clothes - you buy premium brands but you keep it in closets and wear old stuff. Expensive brands are for exception events. You can be very atractive lamborghiny outside but you still remain to be toyota. And than your clothes is out of trend and is old and you start to wear it. And what if you know that today is your last day in life? So enjoy the moment!

Just because I take extraordinary care of my devices doesn’t mean I don’t fully enjoy them. I’m confused how you got that impression. I thoroughly use my devices to their full potential. I just don’t believe in treating tech like hockey pucks or frisbees. Also, giving someone an awesome deal is food for the soul. Make someone happy and the universe will return the gesture. Sorry you feel less than thrilled about helping someone else out who may not have your resources. Hopefully your perspective can change cause like you said, if today is my last day in life, I can’t take the device with me and money would have no meaning so why not put a smile on someone’s face on your way out?

If you put a case, there will be additional weight and thicker. This will affect your enjoyment.
Also, if you put screen protector, the display will not be as clear as when naked.
I am still amazed, how thin and light the iPhone in naked every time I take out the case.

Just wiped my screen down to double check before posting. No scratches and use the pencil a fair amount.
