I upgraded the RAM in my 24" Imac to 4GB cost me about £55 including delivery. That's Kingston Value RAM.

My mac is mega quick now and I can't recommend it enough for the money. Spaces is just jaw dropping.:p

Super easy to do too. About as easy as changing the battery on the BT keyboard or a mouse.

More about the plastic tab, please

I've seen the "Adding RAM" section on Apple's support page. Looks easy enough. I'll be buying a 24" 2.4 iMAc right after MWSF. I'll also be getting 4GB of Crucial memory. So, you pull on the tab to release the original RAM. Then you firmly seat the new RAM. What do you do with the plastic tab after the new RAM is installed? Thanks again!
