First is that people told me not to buy a first generation Apple stuff if I'm not just gonna switch it on next iteration, second is that I have to use the phone I buy for more than 2 years. iPhone X costs nearly $2000 in my country (Turkey). That meant I won't be able to sell it and get something else if I did not like it, and my first impressions were not good. I wasn't going to gamble.
They are correct on the second iteration. If you were planning to keep an Apple device for a lengthy amount of time, definitely skip the first iteration so that Apple can work out the kinks.
Second, one of the many reasons people buy Apple products in America is the high resale value. Just like Rolex watches and other luxury goods, they tend to hold their value pretty well here. It seems like you're implying otherwise in Turkey.
The integration (or lack of it) between Macbook and iPhone is going to get more hate to Apple, and from their own fans. Today I watched an unboxing of an iMac Pro. The person who bought it bought for 50000 TL. That's about $13000 and it came with a type-A usb cable. He was mad.
I think many people, especially in the US, dislike Apple's recent practices, but out of sheer laziness don't vocalize enough nor take action. Myself included.
