First is that people told me not to buy a first generation Apple stuff if I'm not just gonna switch it on next iteration, second is that I have to use the phone I buy for more than 2 years. iPhone X costs nearly $2000 in my country (Turkey). That meant I won't be able to sell it and get something else if I did not like it, and my first impressions were not good. I wasn't going to gamble.

They are correct on the second iteration. If you were planning to keep an Apple device for a lengthy amount of time, definitely skip the first iteration so that Apple can work out the kinks.

Second, one of the many reasons people buy Apple products in America is the high resale value. Just like Rolex watches and other luxury goods, they tend to hold their value pretty well here. It seems like you're implying otherwise in Turkey.

The integration (or lack of it) between Macbook and iPhone is going to get more hate to Apple, and from their own fans. Today I watched an unboxing of an iMac Pro. The person who bought it bought for 50000 TL. That's about $13000 and it came with a type-A usb cable. He was mad.

I think many people, especially in the US, dislike Apple's recent practices, but out of sheer laziness don't vocalize enough nor take action. Myself included.

I wouldn't just stay within the U.S

Many others outside are the same with everything... we only voice, and expect the EFF or others to work on behalf of us because we can't do anything ourselves if we felt strongly about something as a massive protest...

We could change Apple if we cared that much, but like most things, we think, there is no point in even trying as they have it in their mind it will fail. Convenience has taken over.

Most of the people I know who I would categorize as typical consumers, don't know, don't care about apple's practices. All they want is a product, such as a phone, or computer and Apple's offerings tend to bubble up first when the discussion starts.

I think people's choices regarding Android or the iPhone are more about like the the phone vs. corporate behavior. Just my $.02

I have to say, as a “new” Apple user (Had iPhone for a few years, but since a few months got myself a MBP and IPad Pro for work) I do get comments every now and then. Especially last week when I bought Apple TV and Airpods. Honestly I don’t care what people buy or like. Whatever makes you happy. All these products that I have now working together are pretty awesome. When I expressed my enthusiasm about it all, a few people really snapped at me. Honestly I didn’t get it... I never really had any “feelings” towards Apple products before I got them. Maybe I’m gonna get hated for saying this, but perhaps it’s jealousy? Not towards the products per se, but the level of enthusiasm Apple user express? BTW what’s with the Apple TV remote the “swipes “ are opposite LOL...

Not sure what you mean by this. If I swipe right, the cursor goes right. Vice versa with left. Also did you know if you lightly touch the edge of the touchpad, it's equivalent as clicking that direction?

Comment sections, seem to bring out people of the opposite persuasion, that are there only to criticize. Trolls. News sites too.

We had them on UseNet, mute a thread or topic for 30 days, sometimes a specific user, some forever. Or maybe queue a reply for 4 hours.

If I say the sky is blue, someone will challenge my view. best to not read comments and just move on sometimes. Especially if it inspires an impassioned response, wait or self censor.
