Performance degradation - phone unlock

Hey all,

very recently I've started to notice that my phone is starting to degrade in its performance SPECIFICALLY in unlocking the phone.
ie. touch id taking ages to unlock...and SOMETIMES the unlocking animation would take 2-3 seconds to 'unzoom' (the icons would get stuck in between the unlocking animation for a few seconds)...worst of all, when listening to music, turning on the display by unlocking the phone would make the music skip...100% of the time....this is the most annoying symptom (I listen to music a lot) which to me suggests and that when I unlock the phone, the phone's CPU goes to overdrive.

have tried rebooting and no luck. contemplating clean installing..but before I do that, anybody have any experience in this, and manage to fix it?

This is a part of Apple's planned obsolescence model.They limited TouchID speed of the iPhone 6 to make it seem like the 6S stomps it in speed.I distinctly remember TouchID being way faster on 8.4.1

I distinctly remember it being just about the same (if not slightly slower) in iOS 8.

And it's not like they actually put in a whole next version of TouchID into the 6s line...oh, wait, that's exactly what they did. (Not even counting 6s having all kinds of other hardware improvements that make it faster than any previous iPhone.)

I do recall touch ID being slightly faster with 8.4.1 than 9.0 back when I owned the iPhone 6, was only really noticeable to me when comparing devices hand in hand.
 
Try deleting and redoing your prints. I remember reading that two years ago when the 5s was yuuuuuuuge.

I actually did that to my 5s and it worked great: speed back to normal.

And these prints, let me tell you, no problems here. I guarantee you that.

I am not denying the 6S is obviously faster but to get people to upgrade it must be "OMG THIS IS FAST" than the current iPhone 6 which it wasnt.Hence they placed a time limit on ALL iPhones prior to the 6s to get people to upgrade

Or they actually made a next version of it that is better. But, sure, a potential conspiracy theory sure does sound more exciting than a much simpler and practical explanation.

I don't believe in planned obsolescence just because if it were true, there are far better ways of doing it

Will try deleting the prints and report back

This is all kinds of funny. If you honestly believe that, it just proves your sole purpose and intentions of being on these forums are to bash anything iPhone/Apple and do nothing else.

So it's there but you just can't see it...I guess it's one of those self-fullfilng proofs. ;)

They did the same with the iPhone 4 back in 2010 with their so called "Retina display". In fact, they have just decreased the pixels that the iPhone 3GS could push in iOS 4 so that you think the iPhone 4 has a gorgeous display. Very very smart... :) /s

and they did it again with the plus' 1080p screen. iphone 7 plus will have a 2k screen with incomprehensible pixel size.

Seems like some people actually participate in all kinds of discussions, including those trying to troubleshoot something or provide some information or tips or something else useful to others that might be asking about something or looking for some information, while others don't really participate in much aside from essentially just one type of thing basically over and over.

I don't care wha you guys call it or how it happened but I know TouchID was faster in iOS 8 than iOS 9

Not ironic at all.

I'm quite neutral actually and not "defending Apple". I just point out the ridiculousness made by the non stop complainers such as you. There are plenty of things I don't like about OS X or iOS or iPhone or iPad or Apple Watch. The difference is, I don't post or make threads bashing it non stop, getting upset over software and losing sleep over it. I have an open mind and can see that there can be reasons or possibilities as to why things might be one way or another. This is something you and some others lack.

I contribute to the forums and actually try and help people solve whatever problems they're having. You have over 1300 posts and I wouldn't even be exaggerating if I said 99.999999% of your posts have been nothing but over exaggeration whines or complaints or conspiracy theories and bashing the company this site covers. It's MacRumours, a site to get Apple news and rumours and talk about it. It's not ComplainBecauseIHateEverythingAndSamsungRules.

Nothing of what you say is constructive criticism. It's blind hatred for the subject this site is about.

deleting the fingerprints and reentering didnt help, music still skips.
can anyone on 128gb iphone 6 try this? listen to apple music (streaming)...turn off the display then wake the iphone up by pressing the home button and keeping your finger there to unlock.
does the music skip?

if it does then its a glitch with ios 9.2.1 and i dont think i should do a clean reinstall (a pain)
