You're right - that you shouldn't have to pull apart your MBA, etc... but you also don't have to sread FUD in every thread *multiple times* about the RevA Air. There are more MBA owners out there (including myself) that love their air, and have rarely if never had CoreShutdowns (and I played with Coolbook, but ultimately uninstalled it.

My 1.6Ghz MBA is just as fast as my MBP Rev1 CoreDuo 2Ghz, and it's become my primary machine. I think more people who love their RevA MBAs should be commenting, if for nothing else to combat the Sheer VOLUME of one guy posting crap about his bad MBA experience.

I hated my MBA. Yes, I actually did own one and was fortunate enough to exchange it for a Pro (and was very lucky since I was a few days past the 14 day limit). I bashed the Air on the boards for a while mostly to prevent others from getting a crapbook without proper warning. It seemed to me that the issues (fan noise and stuttering for me) were common enough to be design flaws rather than production variations; as such, I was (am) convinced that anyone who bought one would be very likely (maybe not 100% but over 50%) to experience these problems.

I gave up bashing after a while not because Apple fixed the issues but just that I thought I was beating a dead horse. There were enough stored posts that if anyone cared to find out how I and other felt they could.

Part of my vehemence about the issue was because I really wanted an Air that worked correctly and I wanted Apple to do something to make it so. Maye Rev B is the answer although I am not yet convinced (I still see too many posts referencing fans at 6200).

I personally do not believe that any of those claiming to have a perfect Air actually do. There are types (my wife is one of them) that just are not bothered by fan noise. I believe people with perfect Airs are in fact those that have a different set of criteria than I to define problems.

PS I love my Pro just as much as you say you love your Air. It is in fact dead silent 98% of the time. Apple can design a perfect machine; Air's just not it. Wouldn't mind a lighter machine but it has to be as good - and silent - as my current Pro for me to get one. Keeping an eye on the new Air's though...

The new ones are perfect, The way the old one's were meant to be..
I also agree with you, I don't think the Rev A any are perfect out there, just what people put up with.

If you ever get a chance try the new one, You will be surprised!
