How great is the M8? I'm really wanting one, more so the GPE but I'm assuming the only way to get one is via eBay?

I'm due for an upgrade and am currently rocking a 5. Haven't owned an Android phone since the Nexus 4 on ICS. Really considering one. May get the Note 4 with a 2 year contract but I'd rather save my upgrade and buy something off contract.

It was my favorite phone of 2014, in which I owned a Moto X (2013), Nexus 5, HTC One m7, iPhone 6 and 6+, and Galaxy Alpha. Build is great, size is good, great screen, great sound, fast and smooth, sd card slot, abouve average battery life, camera shoots really good video and lowlight photos, average but small daylight pictures.

You can still get it new from google play, though its not in stock its still listed so they might be getting more. As for used options, theyre going for around $300 on eBay and Craigslist. Mine is the at&t model which I converted to GPE. Sakitech has some great tutorials on youtube on how to do the conversion, the tricky thing is getting s-off, but if your still having trouble you can always try sunshine, it cost $25 but it automates most of the process and leaves your phone ready to be flashed.

Realistically, what is the cost of obtaining your 15th phone? I'm talking about using the proceeds of the sales previous phones to fund new ones.

Everyone has a hobby, and certainly there are more expensive hobbies out there. For some, they rather get one luxury watch ; for others, it's 15 phones.

On average it works out around €50 per device.... A lot were straight trades or sold one device for same price as phone I am buying.

So yeah it's not that bad and as I don't drink or smoke - I'm certainly spending less on my hobby per month than a lot of my friends are spending on a Friday night out ....

certainly is ... I believe Jamezr did this, though not sure he can post at the moment :(

Actually doesn't look like he'll be posting anymore. That's a bummer--we butted heads a few times but always came away from it knowing more than going in and enjoyed some 'lively' debates. No Onthecouchagain and now no more Jamezr. :(

Oh!!! I saw he was on time-out, but seems to have gone further :(

When you consider some of the new users we have had lately trolling it's disappointing to see a regular fall foul by responding to them. I know onthecouchagain is now posting on XDA, maybe Jamezr will be over there, but I will miss all his phone changing antics and his feedback on them whether we shared same opinion or not. He always posted great photos from his new devices too.

Looks like I'll now have to pick up the phone mantle ;)

Seems like people that live to troll and bash are sticking around, while those longtimers with strong but articulate views are getting the boot. Bummer.

Oh (s). I said I wasn't buying anymore phones this year! I ordered the Lumia 635 for $35 this past weekend. This makes phone #15 for me this year. I plan to use it as my backup phone to my M8...By the way, this is my second favorite phone this year! Perfect size (I can even type with one hand). The only thing I wish were better was the camera, but I am set on getting the M9 next year!

This year I've had (no specific order) iPhone 6, 6 Plus, Moto X 2014, Moto G, Galaxy S5, Note 3, Lumia 635 and a Droid Razr HD.

This is nuts lol. I definitely have a problem. Luckily enough phone sales have helped costs of new ones. But still..

This year I had: iPhone 5s, nexus 5, moto x 2013, HTC one m8, Sony z3c, note 4, iPhone 6, and iphone 6+

Not quite your level, but close to a phone a month. The 5s and nexus 5 I had two separate times.
That's when you know you have hit the major league, repurchasing. I had iPhone 5s, 6, two 6+, G3, S5, and Lumia 1520, Icon, 830, 635. Now using a HTC M8 which is my favorite of all, for now. Swappa has saved my marriage ;)

Lumia 1520 vs Icon? I'm thinking the 1520 Is just too big but maybe not..

I liked the Icon just because of the size difference over the 1520.

Yep I too had the 930 & 1520

1520 has better battery life and the on screen clock / notifications mode

930/icon has more premium feel and more ergonomic

What a fun thread!

Somehow I missed it until just now. I've been a Mobile Phone enthusiast since the BlackBerry, Pre-Smartphone era. Now years later these phones are more addicting than ever. One clue to how deep I'm in is the four lines I maintain.

Knee deep and thrilled with my Google Nexus phones and others, I'm beyond help... ha ... ha ... ha.:)

Ha ha you guys still haven't been able to shake off those terrible urges . Well, I did good this year or let's just say my wife kept me in check. I kept the Note 3 and iPhone 5s for most of the year, swapped out to a Moto X 2014 on Android side and added a couple Android tablets to satiate my appetite.

Honestly for next year the only phones I'm really interested in are the Sony Xperia Z4, iPhone 6s plus and Note 5.
