Here we just call them RAF then the name of the area.
We do the same in the US. For example, in the base or station, Eielson AFB, "Eielson" is the name of the place, and the AFB added to the name means, "Air Force Base." However, when "Royal" is mentioned in reference to an air force, everybody knows that one is talking about the AF of England.

Things can get complicated and even funny when one thinks about our US Air Force if we included "America," because there are three Americas: North, Central, and South America. Would you imagine how long it would take to pronounce, "United States of North America Air Force"? :)

You are right! Royal Air Force (RAF). In that case, it would be US Air Force (USAF for short).
Now in the US some of the bases have combined so that for instance, we have Joint Base Andrews, which started out back in 1942 as Camp Springs Air Base in Prince George's County, Maryland. It is under the jurisdiction of the USAF 316th Wing Air Force District of Washington. What was formerly simply called Andrews AFB merged in 2009 with the Naval Air Facility in Washington, DC, to form the joint base.

The name of this particular base may sound familiar to many Americans and to those in other countries because it has a special air mission -- it is responsible for transporting senior government and military leaders, so it is where Presidents of the US depart from and arrive at when flying in or out of the US. So, Andrews is "the home of Air Force One." :).

My last job was at FT. Lewis in Tacoma, which is next to McChord. That became Joint Base Lewis McChord, I used drive between the two on the way in, even though I had a pass, we weren't allowed on the McChord Base. The road I took was right at the end of the main runway, and the C-130's were about 50' over my head when they took off.
