This photo is for the content, not any great technical skill. In the attic of our historic Cobblestone, I found this unusual "room". To access the attic, I had to use a ladder and climb through a hatch. I went up one to check every thing was OK and found this room at one end of the attic. Bees had gotten in through spaces in the cobblestone walls over many years and built a gigantic hive that was about a 1/3 of the way up the wall. I carefully removed all the gray cellulose material using a shop vac and 7 garbage bags. There was no flooring in the attic, no boards leading to the two benches on either side of the opening. The date on the keystone over the front door reads 1843, we are not sure if that was when they started the house, but pretty sure when it was completed. Either way it was pre-civil war, we think this was built in anticipation of the "Underground Railroad" for slaves on the run, that worked it way up from the South to areas of the North. House was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1992. We read up on places in the Finger Lakes that were part of the route, but there was no mention of our house as being a stop. There were no markings or initials cut into the wood. Probably never used. The underside of the roof in front of the room is original! House had cedar shake shake shingles that were covered up by corrugated steel sheets that were covered with black roofing compound. After looking at maps of probable routes, our place was too far south, routes went along the Erie Canal and up to towns on Lake Ontario where ships took them to Canada.

Trying out a 100-400mm lens. First time taking a moon shot at long range. From yesterday 4/27/21

Moon shooting, this aint easy!
'while shooting the moon last night, the Nikon saw every setting and function set and adjusted for 20 minutes-which the last 4 (out of 50) were publishable, but not as defined as this great photo!

Unfortunately I didn't know in advance that there was going to be this fantastic SuperMoon and I was not at all prepared.....a friend alerted me but by the time she did it really was too late to get decent shots here in the neighborhood (the moon shining above the community and reflected in the water would have been fantastic, but by that time the moon had moved beyond the ideal position and I didn't have enough time to hustle the tripod and the camera and the long lens out to my deck) and, alas, yes, definitely too late to go traveling around elsewhere. Last night, too many clouds obscuring the moon so that opportunity was gone as well.

So I was looking for a good picture of one of our cats sitting behind our wooden window blinds to use in the Photo Association Game Thread yesterday and I ran across this picture of Sherlock.

We love all of our cats, but Sherlock was first among equals.
