The 777 doesn't fly anymore for Virgin Australia. The A380 on the other hand is still common, at least for my country and A6-EEF flew Singapore to Dubai recently. This worked out nicely - the position of both planes to get them in the picture un-obscured.
I love using that 70-200mm F/2.8 VR II lens, such a joy to use handheld especially at night. And the D800e delivered incredible images with that lens, although they were slow to edit with a quad-core Mac Pro (back in those days).
