On the far Left is a macadamia nut that has a group cut out so it’s easier to open. On the right is an easy-opening almond. These were bought on a business trip a few weeks ago From The country Tashkent, Capital of Uzbekistan
I remember try to open a macadamia nut with a sledgehammer. It shot out like a bullet and made a hole though a wooden fence but didn’t crack the shell. Found out later that a trick was to freeze them first or to score the shells with a saw.

Well, I bought these at a bazaar market in Uzbekistan, the shopkeeper cut lines in the shell to get a metal opener to twist and open the shell.

A Malayan night heron chilling out in a park in Taipei. As far as I know, these birds first became common in the urban areas of Taiwan about two decades ago. Back then they'd only spend the winter here, but now they've seem to become permanent residents. This was the closest I could get with a 105mm lens. Shot on a Nikon F80 on Kodak Vision3 250D metered at ASA 800 and pushed two stops in development.

Some of my daughter's flowers. She is not allowed to have flowers in her room so they put them out at the nurses station and I take photos of them for her. These are really beautiful. Tomorrow is her 40th birthday and these are a present from her employer and co-workers. I only have my iPhone to take photos with so nothing fancy.
