I wasn't sure so I looked it up. It sounds like a sect of Christianity. According to Wikipedia: "The Free Church of Scotland is a conservative evangelical Calvinist denomination in Scotland."
The Free Church of Scotland, sometimes known as the 'Wee Frees' is a breakaway from the Church of Scotland. The split finally happened around 1900, there were a few breakaway sects which came together to form the Free Church.
