Yeah now you mention it, he is awfully keen to get us on the hook wanting a Nikon... maybe that is the strategy... good catch! :)

Dum dum dum tsh! another one bites the dust... welcome to the darkside friend... :p

The EOS M3 is intended to augment the 6D - small to carry in the pocket (with kit lens) and a decent crop-factor reach extension for use with my EF lenses (particularly the 70-300mm) where the difference in camera size makes zero difference to portability. In lots of circumstances I'll be carrying both cameras - the M3 in effect as a 1.6x extender! So much for travelling light. I personally don't find the 6D body to be heaven or burdensome.

Wimps!

Try working as a pro in the old days. Three cameras - each loaded for different films and focal length - and two of them Mamiya Pro S'.

Add in some Metz CT60s with swinging battery packs and you begin to understand why I quit as soon as I could, to retire to nice simple, relatively lightweight DSLRs and Photoshop :)

Sometimes those 'good old days' were NOT.

Edit: I am not in any way trying to glorify those days. Trying to get the 'hero' shot with three different kinds of film stock was pure hell and damn near impossible. We had to try... that was how the game was played.

Lol... Yeah that's how it starts...:p

Just joking!

Curious how you get on as I am fighting a serious case of GAS right now on whether to buy a new toy... APS-C or M43... TL, A6k or Pen-F... Don't need it but just want a shiny thing to play with... Having a Golem moment... My precious!!!

I think you'd benefit from this one Ken View attachment 680925

:D

Oooft! You mean the d750 bit or the beginners bit? Either way that hurts.... :(

Lol.... It's always the Nikon guys who bristle first when their faith is questioned....

Lovely except a time warp - just a step to the left then a jump to the right - would have got you in between those branches and got a clear shot line on the swan... o_O god that joke made me groan typing it...

Well if you are fighting your GAS I suggest you get on it quick. Plenty of manufacturers will be putting up their prices in January because of exchange rates.

As for me I have more gear than I need. My photo opportunities are still few and far between. I'd thought about going out today, but it's grey and miserable.

Ah but grey and gloomy is great for moody black and white... Get out there man! The shot is out there waiting for you... Go find it...

I have more gear than I can use too. I am just being spoilt. I have been researching lenses recently, lusting after a Noctilux which is stupid money so not happening this side of a lottery win. However, I had considered a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.1 but all reviews say get a Summilux instead. I have one of those already so yes what I need to do is get my ass out and shoot instead of looking for a short term adrenalin rush from unboxing a new light catcher... And I certainly dont need to set myself off on a new lens system...

But

Shhh! Mrs Kenoh is here.... Don't tell her!

Maybe tomorrow morning. If I don't get out first thing I probably won't go. I like it quiet. In theory tomorrow morning should provide that as the general population will be nursing a hangover.
As a mostly tea drinker I should be fine.

Me too. I have an early hike planned for Balmaha to the east shore of Loch Lomond. Hoping the drunks will still be comatose somewhere else so I can get some pictures of naked Scotland - rainy and dreek :)

Sounds lovely. Closest places I have near me like that are in Wales, but I only try to be out for a few hours at a time which makes that a little further than I can get to.

Last post of 2016.

This is a string of very large spider webs at the base of a wall next to a small lake. The webs are about 3-4 feet across. Populated by some large spiders. I counted 33 of them all hanging along the base of the wall. I did NOT want to get closer.

Sounds like the sort of place @MacRy would love to shoot! Looks like something out of the hobbit.

Standing on a pile of slippery mud, hanging the camera over a wire fence, branches sticking out everywhere - sorry but that was the clearest shot I could get mate. However I think it was semi worth it :)

Cheers :)

Grey and miserable? I see that in the mirror every morning!

Here's a link to the book I got for Christmas - shows that you can get some great photos from even pretty mundane subjects (skill and vision permitting):

No lets be honest... My kitchen pass only permits me to be out the house for 2 hours at a time so I struggle too... Only way to do it is to get out before they get up to extend my window... So tomorrow... Up dark and early... :-(

My wife is usually awake from 5. 100% chance of rain here tomorrow though :(
Now I'm the one making excuses!

Somewhere
Sea Ice by mrkramer, on Flickr
I went out to get pictures of the sea ice after a storm surge last night broke it up a bit. There is a bit of color in the ice and the water that I was trying to show. I'm still working on getting the exposure right for making the snow look white. I had it on manual and overexposed by a stop, but it still doesn't look as white as I would like. I guess I may just need to go out on a sunny day if we ever get one again...
