Getting ready for Christmas dinner, 2003. Our house was built in 1843 and walls were 20" thick stone with no room for utilities. Left book shelf hides heat duct to up to bedroom above, right bookcase hides plumbing for upstairs bathroom.

Wow! It's December already, and as I get older each day...just thinking about spending time outdoors in the cold Alaska nights makes me shiver sometimes. The temperatures in the interior of Alaska have been mild this winter, specially when I took the photo below, but the weather forecast from Wednesday night calls for -20º F. Meanwhile the Auroral forecast looks quite promising (high activity) in the evening through perhaps 2:00 Thursday Alaska time.
