small town vignette under the big town sky

Gettting to be that time of year. A few months ago after a hurricane Canaveral National Seashore was closed for repair and of the 13 parking sites, only 8 are currently available as clearing work continues. This is access #1 and the entire ramp walkway over the dunes

had to be replaced. Plus on the back side of the dunes where the parking lot is, it was pure sand with accumulation up to the eaves of the building housing the chemical (never had running water) toliets.

So found a group of loose negs that I had obviously intended to contact print but must have been interrupted by the second last move before that was done. This quartet must have been a test to determine if it was worth wasting a roll of color film shooting hummers through our west window.

Ilford Hp4 film, Certainly the Nikor 105mm ƒ2.5 lens (not AF), probably set at ƒ5.6 or ƒ8. Shutterspeed no doubt was 1/1000th sec, most likely souped in D-25 with a Sodium-Carbonate second step.

I am really impressed with these! Hummingbirds are hard enough with modern digital gear, to do four in focus images on film! Well done.

Thanks.

The focus was the easy part. Just focused at a certain point and waited for the bird to be there. Hard part was squeezing the shutter in that instant they were in focus. Had 3 blank frames and one out of focus frame to give me a G2G ratio of 1:1 on the humming bird set. Will have to go through our albums and see if I followed that up with a color attempt.
