I'm not sure but i think the file size is limited to 5MB now. But, from an answer I got from mac rumors support some years ago there also appears to be an undocumented Xenforo limitation on the pixel dimension of an image, support suggested that I keep the pixel dimension to 4800x3200 or less. This was from four or five years ago so that limitation might have changed since then.

I got a picture upload rejected a few days ago, it was more than 8 MB, so maybe that's the limit?
