Indeed. Some universities we dealt with (not no-name universities) still prefer fax until a few years ago, and cash is still king. However in this case, I think the temple has a different motivation: to limit the number of people visiting the temple. I guess that will filter visitors to those who are the most die-hard, but there are better ways of doing it.

You're the second visitor I have seen here from the city of churches. I suspect there's lurkers that don't indicate being from here though... Adelaide's that kinda place! 😉
 
I'm trying to make the most of my last month as an official resident of the state of my birth, and am trying my best to explore some parts of the state I've never visited.

Tuesday was about an hour away...and the "The Sun Shines Bright"(yes, that phrase has significance in relation to this photo-bonus points to anyone who recognizes it)

I wish I'd stuck around until sunset, as I could have made a nice dyptych and titled the second frame "Good Night"...but that was in hindsight and my traveling companions probably wouldn't have appreciated the long day.

As a side note, I'm still warming up to the 24-70 f/2.8. It's a fantastic lens without a doubt(easily as good as many of the primes in that range), but I can't get over how much the thing weighs. Aside from saving a pile of money, I'd dread to think how I would feel about carrying the newer E VR version. I don't see this lens completely replacing my 24-120 f/4, even though optically the 24-70 f/2.8 is much better.

On the other hand, the D810 was a solid purchase. I wouldn't have thought that it would be that much of a change from the D800, but the two stand-out features to me are the much deeper grip(especially with heavy lenses handheld) and how much quieter the shutter is. I've still been using my D800 a lot-it's nice to-for example-carry it with the 14-24mm f/2.8 or a different(lighter) UW zoom without having to swap and also allows me to do it on two cameras that essentially operate the same. Still, though, that's a formidable amount to carry.

I have the 24-70mm f 2.8 and it isn’t lightweight. But the 70-200mm f 2.8 VR sure makes it feel like it is!
But they are both good quality bits of glass.

Captured in the kitchen of the tiny place that I have shared images from over the last couple of days. I was fascinated by this out of place stove which suited itself to some place far more grand than this tiny cottage, both this and the ornate wallpaper were so over the top!

I can't really pin-point it, but at least my 70-200mm VRI seems to bother me less than the 24-70 f/2.8. I suspect it's the density since it's a much larger lens and seems to handle/point a fair bit better to me(a lot of people who spend heaps of money on shotguns talk about the same thing, and there are some definitely some parallels there). The FL version is not only outstanding all around, but is a bit lighter than the VRI version, but of course that doesn't come cheaply.

Nothing ever does. But then I stick on the 200-500mm f5.6 and think how heavy it is! Imagine if that was a f2.8! I'd be very poor and probably arms like Stallone!

But it does get you closer to the action!

Well, he stayed there a few times and it was a lot of his inspiration to write one of his better known songs-"My Old Kentucky Home, Good Night"

It's more properly called the Rowan Family Federal Hill mansion, but of course because of the Stephen Foster connection it is widely know as "My Old Kentucky Home", and the state park associated with it bears the same name.

Thank you. I visited the UK dozens of times, but somehow managed to avoid the Lake District. It's on the list.
To be honest, we once passed through on a National Express Night coach from London to Inverness, many moons ago.

Love the Lake District. When you come we should all meet up for a MR photography day!

The Lake District has always been on my list of places to visit, it just looks so beautiful.
There just has never been much of an opportunity for me to visit that side of the country unfortunately.
