The Largs Pier Hotel, South Australia. One I will revisit for some long exposures of. The cloud was too thick on Thursday and moving too slowly.

It's not a particularly good photo, but it does mark a significant moment for me.

I haven't posted here or on my blog in a few weeks due to my life suddenly changing. My girlfriend gave up driving a few weeks ago and moved out of the truck, she took a job in Richmond, Va, I live in Seattle.

Once she quit I found out the hard way that this company doesn't care at all about it's solo drivers. I've been sitting in Salt Lake with a broken truck for seven days now and they refuse to pay for a hotel or breakdown pay. As I write this, my dad is coming down here to get me and move me back home.

I have one last hope for a good job in this industry and if it doesn't go through then I'm done with this industry. I've given 10 years of my life to it and just can't seem to find a company that actually understands that drivers are people, not numbers.

Either way, once I get home I'm moving to Richmond so I can save the relationship with my girlfriend. I don't have a job or a place to live when I get there, but she makes me far happier than anything else in my life so somehow, someway it'll work out...

Hang in there, John. Life can throw all of us some rough bumps in the road, but do what will make you happy. You've got a lot going for you. Keep the faith.

Love the facial expression on this one. Caption competition material. 'Who me'?

Mine for today. Just my back garden as I haven't been out today.

There may be some truth to that caption. She had access to her indoor area all day (because it's too cold out right now for the giraffes to be out all the time), and this was really the first time she came over to say hello for the day, and I gave her a hard time. So maybe giraffes really do emote more like us than we'd expect.

And for today (I think my last submission may have also technically been today, but it was last night as far as I'm concerned).

Nice peacock. I think I might head to the zoo next weekend.

I need a holiday...

A long abandoned computer store, that has become the HQ to an entire pigeon populace as the roof has since caved in.

Finally got out today. Bloody cold and the splashes everywhere make it hard to shoot, but not too bad for a miserable winter day like today. Will surely want to revisit when blue skies and green foliage are out.

Photo of the day : March 2014

Went to visit my mum for Mother's Day this morning and took a shot of this twee looking little pair in her garden.

Man I hope to take a crack at shooting the northern lights some day. Downright gorgeous stuff there.

Thank you.

From 2010 through 2013 when I took the photo above and this one, the Auroras were amazing. Solar activity has declined, so now it takes more time of sleepless nights outdoors :)

Gorgeous photo, wonderful colours!

Thanks Ish...I do like the subtle colouring colour and complex shades of the female Cardinal.

So much better than his female counterpart. Both great photos though.

Thanks AFB.
