I don't think I ever shared the reprocessed version of this photo from the Dolomites. There were a few things that had been bothering me about it since I first released it, so I took another whack at putting it together (focus stacks with moving elements are always a bit tricky).

Also, today is an exciting day for me because I have some big news to share! I have been invited to be the first-ever addition to the Photo Cascadia contributor line-up. I imagine that PC needs no introduction for most of you who are into landscape and travel photography. I have counted those guys among my idols for years, so I'm really pinching myself right now! They started me off with an introduction and interview, which you can read here. I'm super excited! :)

Congrats Erin. Seems like you're getting the recognition your wonderful photos deserve.
Loverly image by the way.

Congratulations Erin. Well deserved!

Thanks, guys! It's going to be fun sharing my photos and ideas there. :)

I normally photograph hummingbirds against a background of natural foliage, but my daughter brought some colorful artwork home from school and agreed to let me try using it as a backdrop...

This one's a winner! Wow! A crop? The real question is: how'd you get the bird to pose for you in front of your daughter's artwork? :)

I saw the announcement on FB this morning. But it bears repeating here: BIG CONGRATS. No one more deserving. I'm now subscribed to the blog in question and have been pouring over the myriad works of the other contributors (some of which I was not familiar with). Great stuff.

Just read your interview at the blog. You have put in a lot of hard work and it has payed off, congratulations!

Was looking to shoot something tonight after I got home from work and the waxing gibbous moon seemed like a decent subject. 80-400mm lens isn't *quite* long enough, but getting there.

Pffffffft. I love this forum and learned a lot from it when I was just starting out. Heck, given that I subjected you all to my juvenalia back in the day, I'm lucky that you'll still have me!

Thanks, Puckman -- I asked nicely. :)

There is a feeder out of frame to the lower-right. I used a long lens on a monopod so I could adjust and try to keep the background in the frame. This one is a light crop -- maybe 20% or so.

Really love these shots. The thing I miss about getting rid if my DSLR heavy artillery is a lens with reach. I miss my 100-400L :-(

Words fail me about how incredible this shot is. Again I am a fan of the hummingbirds.

Third and final instalment in the Jess "having a moment" Trilogy.

The model (a friend) hit me up on Facebook, telling me she was going through dark times at the moment and that if I could take advantage of this to create some art, she would be appreciative. I took her up on this challenge and hit my hair and make up team ten minutes later.

Came up with the concept (this, the chainsaw wielding and the Mummy Dearest tribute) within two days and the team put it together on short notice wonderfully.

In-between the showers this morning, I went out for a quick photo session with the new rig. Unusually for me, I went out with just the 105mm macro lens, which really wasn't the correct choice. Anyway just getting used to the new D750. Coming from a D7100 though, it's really virtually identical of course.

Great news indeed. I've downloaded your interview, and will read it this evening. Looks like you're going in the right direction... :D

Congratulations, that is great news, and very well done. Thanks for posting then link: I read the interview - extremely interesting, what a fascinating intellectual 7 photographic journey and some lovely photographs, too.

Did your arms share that view after your walk? :)

Not a great post for today, playing with some snapseed settings

There's only 15 grams between the two bodies, so it's not much lighter than my old kit. Usually I travel with most of my lenses which given they are all pro glass, isn't that light. But you get used to it, and I hate being out without the right kit like today.
