My hometown. The Soldiers and Sailors Monument is quite an attraction - especially at Christmas... they string lights from the top to create a Christmas tree, and decorate the place... as a kid, I remember all of the department stores on "the Circle" had the animated Christmas scenes of Santa's workshop and similar... the Circle still was open to vehicle traffic when I left there in '77. And as a kid, I remember climbing the steps inside the monument and looking at views of the city from the observation deck at the top. I don't know if it is open to the public any longer...

Thanks for the photo and rekindling those memories.

Scan of a negative I recently found - fishing vessel Girl Sharon on the Thames, taken sometime in the early 1990s...

Ricoh compact 35mm camera, 35mm lens :)

Cheers :)

I really love the look and feel of older film photos. I guess it probably takes me back to my youth but there is something about older photos when you had to put more effort into them and wasn't able to see the result untill the darkroom... Thanks for sharing 🖖

There is still a lot of desire to use film, Spielberg used film (negative stock) in the making of West Side Story where he wanted softness instead of the clinical high resolution of digital.
