The other day I was out at a country park which is actually a re-purposed golf course - this shot is of a one time fairway...
Nikon D7200, Tamron 18-400mm, f/8
As an aside, the sun was on its way down and because the shadows were so long I had to go down low to take the shot and avoid being in it myself.
My companions' dogs thought it would be good to climb on my lap and help out...

From 13 years ago. My wife is Chinese, and we used to visit her family in Shanghai regularly. We also would to go to Hainan Island while there, and liked it so much, that we ended up buying a condo in Sanya, a city on the southern tip of the island. I miss those trips. We have not been there since before the Covid pandemic, and unfortunately have no plans to go anytime soon. One of the places we liked to go while on the Island was the Nanshan Buddhist Temple. The grounds are beautiful, the meals are wonderful, and the Buddha statue humongous. I hope we get to visit there again one day.

So my post from yesterday was of a barren wasteland…today I wanted to balance that out. Welcome to this year’s Minnesota State Fair!

I annually like to go the the Fair (The Great Minnesota Get-Together) on opening day, which is a Thursday. The crowds are a little less, the grounds are clean, and everyone is fresh and energetic. This year we weren’t able to go until the final Labor Day weekend, which can be insane. This was from that Sunday.
