Daughter carved some pumpkin lanterns for Halloween. In my day it was a turnip (swede) - a lot more work...

Also makes the light more watery - the sort of weak, almost wintery atmosphere.
Attended the 17th annual Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival this past weekend in Baltimore. The theme this year is Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday). A great big family event held every year the weekend before Halloween. Costumes, music, food trucks, a very informal parade, and homemade lanterns, some of which are very elaborate.
Thanks! Considering it was a 30 degree (Celsius) day, with blinding sunlight, it is not too shabby.

You should get up to Ladybower lake, or the lakes above Glossop; fantastic scenery!
It's just a shame our old boy can't make it any more - he loved all the walks around the Peak District.

We plan on having a trip up there at some point this week. Our little fella is full of beans so he'll love it.
