Very similar if not the same. Never noticed a smell to them but the Monarchs are going nuts for them right now.

There are a lot of different types of purple asters. Mine is about 2-3 feet tall (and tends to flop over, next year I think I will stake it), but there is another one in my neighborhood that gets to be about 6' tall. The middles of the flowers are different when you pay attention, but in passing they look quite similar.
Also, apparently the aromatic part is crushed leaves, not the actual flowers.

The OKswagen Volkswagen Festival was this past Saturday. Took the girls and they shot probably as much as I did and I couldn't keep the cam out of the youngest's hands for three steps before she was wanting it back. We had fun and did a bit of learning about angles and lighting. This is one of her shots. This is one of those instances where I looked her in the eye and said "This breaks the "rules" but in an awesome way".

Your bare bones wedding...sorry I couldn't resist. 🤣
It was a bit cloudy, and they were moving quickly, but I still tried to get some stars behind them. Made for a neat effect with the blurring of the clouds but clarity of some of the stars. Shot with 15 Pro Max. Zero post edits other than crop.
