After quickly realizing that my harddrive would never be big enough to hold all my photos, I set out on a mission to find a safe and secure cloud service to store all these photos.

I suggest that a cloud service not necessary safe or secure. What happens when they decide to close their doors? What happens if your ISP is offline? If you want safe and secure, do a RAID 1 library array on the desktop for high availability, and backup to a separate desktop backup drive. Rotate the backup drive offsite at least once a week to a bank vault or other secure location. Then if you want the added bit of security, then add a cloud backup.
