Not yet because developers needs to app some minor coding (as was mentioned in the Apple presentation with Slide Over) to support e.g. Slide Over and PIP.

The developers need to add some coding to their apps to support PIP. As was mentioned in the Apple presentation Twitter did it in a few minutes to support Slide Over i don't know if it is also so easy with PIP.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure of if third party apps potentially could have this feature.

YouTube is probably going to be a pain about implementing this feature because they have whiny content owners who insist on having their content viewed a certain way on mobile devices.

A good example is YouTube video pausing when you leave the app because you want to keep listening to just the audio.

Expect YouTube to make this feature less useful than it could be. :p

Well, that's not the main reason they implemented the pausing when you leave the app. The main reason is that it is part of their Play Music subscription to be able to view music videos and stream audio from YouTube. As long as I'm signed in with my email I can go to the home screen and listen to audio from a YouTube stream since I have the plan. Well, I haven't tried it on my iPad, but it works like this on my Android phone.

From what I experienced, it currently only works on default html5 players, like on websites opened with safari or any other browsers. Video apps such as Youtube or alternatives doesn't have the ability to do it, they need to be updated.

It's brilliant when it works though.

Is that why it fullscreen in the browser isn't fullscreen?

This is by far my favorite feature on iOS!!! The YouTube app does not support it and you can't go to YouTube.com with out being redirected I made a very simple website with weebly. (More info on that https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...outube-video-support-today-heres-how.1891812/)
This allows me to watch the videos in the Apple media player so I can use picture and picture! It's very cool and if you're going to be watching some longer videos I highly recommend doing this. Took me 2 minutes no joke.

Check it out :):
