Hi, thought I would ask for advice here. I saw a beautiful used fixed gear parked outside a cafe here in town today that was selling for about $360. It has a flippable wheel hub to turn it into a single speed. I really really want it and think I might sell my mountain bike to help pay for it. I ride with my roadie mostly anyways, and am not into technical trail riding on the MTB. Thing is, I bought the MTB used and don't know what year it is. I tried looking online but could not find anything with the serial. It is either a 2000 or a 1999 Specialized Rockhopper. It has been upgraded since then (new seat, new grips, new wheels), and I have gotten it professionally tuned up a couple months ago, with hardly any riding since then. Does anyone know what a good price would be to ask for it? Thanks!

i can't be a huge help since i don't know the prices of MTB, but if you have no luck here, ask on bikeforums.net. some very knowledgeable people there who might be a bit more of help.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Here are pics of the bike in case anyone could give me a rough estimate of what it would sell for:

It's all about the slicks. I use my brother's Pusch Esprit / alpine (can't remember)? everyday during term time at uni. I have spent a fair amount getting it fixed over the past 6 months but it just glides everywhere. Brilliant.
Keep the slicks on your current bike and you're are all set provided you are not racing it and it is not as heavy as a pregnant whale. Save yourself the cash. I would give a picture but I'm about a hundred miles away from it right now.

Hey that rocker hopper looks like a 2000-2001 model. anyway it's probably not worth much maybe 200-250 tops. after a few years the suspensions become useless so the bikes tend to sell much cheaper. Also you won't get anyone who is interested in MTB to buy your bike, best odds it to try craigslist and ask 250 obo, you'll probably get 200ish.

I mean the tires on that thing look stock to me, so they most likely need to be replaced. The rear deraillieur is Derore so it's pretty good. But the chain is cooked, you would probably need new rear cogs to go along with the new chain. Anyway sorry for being so negative, I just wouldn't get your hopes up of getting any serious money from this bike.

Nice Giant DJAKO, is it a double or triple, I can't really tell from your pics. Its been some nice riding weather lately to bad im stuck studying for exams

I think im going to get a C-dale Capo or Spec. Langster after exams for daily riding. I can't wait to try riding a fixe, hopefully i don't kill myself in the process.

What is the Trek that you have in the backround?

Sadly, that one isn't mine. :( That's my best friend's room mate's bike. That Trek is a pretty sweet bike though.

My father and I have a collection of older bikes (cruisers and old road bikes). One of these days I'll post pictures of them all.

Just replaced both my bikes for this season...

MTB is a Kona Fire Mountain ('08) stock frame and shocks, new seat, tires, wheels, brakes, and pedals.

Roadie is an '08 Specialized Dolce Comp. Still working on tweaking this one, as lately I've been taking the MTB out way more than the roadie.

Nice, love it. Give us some details. Flip Flop hub?

yeah it has a flip flop hub, probably will only use it fixed though, its at 48/18 now, but hopefully i can get it in and changed to a 48/16, 18 just doesn't cut it for me.

came with brakes on the hoods, so changed that and added the red tape, and got some MKS sylvan pedals too, much better than the stock. she's a fun ride so far. oh and Giant Bowery btw. :p

This thing is my main method of transportation, combined with my own two feet and the local train line. But mainly, I ride my bike everywhere, and even haul my groceries home on it.

In fact, I don't even own a car! Yeah!! :p Gas? What gas? Insurance? Don't know what you're talking about! Maintenance? OK, you got me there. I had to buy another set of $2.50 brake pads since last year's were worn out.

Hehe...

are four bikes all made by the same manufacturer?

I really have no idea. The main one in the pic is mine, the two in the distance are my wife's, although one has a completely decimated tire and tubing. The one off in the furthest distance is my neighbor's.
