Have patience. It took me 'til I was 27 to get this one. My first ride was an '89 Jeep Comanche. Not the coolest vehicle for a 16 y/o.

I'm just gonna get whatever I can for $2k or less off of Craigslist and gets decent gas mileage. I have a 30 mile drive to get to school, so that equates to 60 miles a day. If I had a car that averaged 30MPG, that's 2 gallons of gas a day. The average price of gas in Virginia is $3.22/gallon. That means I would spend roughly $32 a week on gas. That's also $1,152/school year for gas if I drive every day and don't go anywhere else. A lot of money for a teen.

That's a lot of money you could be spending on better things. Save the money, take the bus - even though it will take forever.

Oh I will take the bus sometimes, but sometimes it is just more practical to drive to school, even if it means money has to be spent. The cost I calculated doesn't include insurance. I plan on just getting something cheap, 4 doors, and small. I don't need much, and I am gonna learn to drive stick, which makes me have more choices.

I decided to only post pics of my currently running and drivable vehicles that I have with me in SoCal.

First, my daily driver. Im from Central CA, where everyone and their mother has a truck similar. I bought this after saving up for 6 years, as a present to myself for becoming a deputy sheriff. It is still my daily driver because now, in SoCal, I am in hay sales. So I need something that can physically get into ranches/farms/dairies/fields, and also haul samples. I have a goose neck hitch too, for hauling small loads. (LTL loads with a semi truck/doubles don't pay the bills efficiently)

And this is my autoX/around town car. I got it brand new in 2000, 102k miles later its still going strong and looks nearly new, though it is heavily modified. Its my baby.

I also have a '57 chevy truck in storage (which was my first car, way back in high school. My part time job working in the school cafeteria since freshman year bought it, and kept gas in it, even at 8mpg. Of course, gas was also MUCH cheaper in the 90s), a '89 chevy truck at my parents (was my dads first brand new vehicle for himself, and also the truck I learned to drive in, when I was about 12, sentimental attachment keeps it in the family. Over 400k miles and its still going too, just doesnt get driven much.), and the fiancé has a '06 Mitsu Outlander. Ive paired down quite a bit. Don't see any new vehicles in my immediate future now. Ive also enjoyed not having any car payments for the last few years. Id rather just keep putting money in my bank account, than to be paying it back to the bank itself.

Not guilty, not into JDM, I keep my car stock. You just sound like an arrogant d-bag.

Haha...just ignore the guy. I think he has something against Japanese cars in general, as evident by the"ricer"comment in the previous thread. :p

More cars please!

So RICE = Japanese only? Wrong!

The term rice can be used for any car. Asian, European or American.

Race
Inspired
Cosmetic
Enhancement

It doesn't do anything for performance. I don't care what anyone does to their car. Whatever floats their boat.

btw...my previous car was a 2005 Nissan 350z Roadster and a Mitsubishi prior to that so I don't have anything against Japanese cars.
