Love those 05 A-Spec wheels. Only year they came in 18x8.5. Which car did you get after trading in your TL? Your car was beautiful btw. Amazing how much of a difference the lip kit makes.

Thank you, I appreciate it. The wheels were hard to find, ended up seeing a listing online and bought them the within a few hours. And a '14 Fusion Titanium. I posted on the previous page I think, but here's another pic. Not a bad ride, but I miss the wonderful sounding Honda V6. The lip kit does make a world of difference too! Should have been standard on the 3G TL.

Sharp looking ride you have there. I've been thinking about trading mine in as well for a new Audi S4 but I just love not having a car payment. Oh btw, my car has 57k miles on it.

Nice! Very low mileage there. S4 would be worth it though...stunning vehicle.

I thought about going German (CLA250) but will wait until after college to really treat myself. :)

Never saw this thread before, but here's my car. It's not my actual car, but it's identical. I just don't have a clean/nice pic of my car. It's a 2013 VW GLI (Autobahn version w/ Nav).

Thank you. Its not bad, lots of features and there's a bit of a learning curve, but I like it. Not sure that I like the climate controls being integrated into it though.

Is the MyFordTouch working alright for you? I've read that they've been having some issues with it. Are you getting used to the integrated climate controls yet?

The overall MyFordTouch system is easy to use, truly. Things are where they should be. Ease of use within MFT shouldn't be a concern. It seems like a lot at first, but it all makes sense. Moreover, the two screens on the sides of the speedometer are great. Lots of features and easy to navigate menus.

My chief complaint is that its not as fast as it should be; transitions are sometimes slow between menus on the touchscreen. Secondly, the climate controls do irritate me as there are not complimenting physical buttons for all the controls on the touch screen. Thirdly, whoever the nimrod was that thought the few physical buttons that do exist in the car should be touch responsive, is an idiot. Everything you see below the navigation screen in this pic is touch responsive. Sounds cool right? Until you're driving and have to look down at where you're pressing. Further, if you don't have those smartphone gloves, or if you have thicker gloves on, you have to take them off for the "buttons" to register input.

At any rate, I still love the car. :)

Wow, thanks for that! My car has the basic Sync system and I too, notice the slow responsiveness of transitions in the display in the center console and the center of the drivers dash. It's not a big deal, but they really could have put a better CPU/GPU behind all of it.

Interesting on the lack of physical buttons - I wasn't aware of that. I know that my car lacks a physical button for turning the traction control on and off and that disappoints me. One shouldn't have to navigate the dash system in order to turn it on or off, IMO.

^ Agreed. The Sync/MyFordTouch system has a very high latency.

I don't mind the traction-control being in a menu since I barely use it (And even when I do, it isn't off completely...).

However, the design choice was great, it was the implementation/speeds of the system that are a problem for me.

According to Wikipedia, here are the hardware spec's of the Sync system.

The SYNC computer, which Ford calls the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), is housed separately from the head unit, called the Audio Control Module (ACM), and interfaces with all vehicle audio sources as well as the high-speed and medium-speed vehicle CAN-buses.[17][18] The first generation of the Ford's SYNC computer was designed in cooperation with Continental AG[19] and is built around a 400 MHz Freescale i.MX31L processor with an ARM 11 CPU core, uses 256MB of 133 MHz Mobile DDR SDRAM from Micron and 2GB of Samsung NAND flash memory,[20][21] runs the Windows Embedded Automotive operating system,[22] and uses speech technology by Nuance Communications. Utilizing the USB port, SYNC's Microsoft Windows Auto-based operating system can be updated to work with new personal electronic devices. A Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) BlueCore4 chip provides Bluetooth connectivity with compatible phones and devices. SYNC's major circuit board chips cost roughly US$27.80, which allows Ford to profitably sell the system at a much lower price than competitive offerings.[20]

I don't know the issues with myfordtouch is hardware or software. It could be the hardware isn't powerful enough to run it or the software coding is poor.

I know Cadillac's CUE had similar issues. When I first drove the ATS back in October 2012, CUE was a bit laggy in its animations and responsiveness. But GM has kept on updating it and my dads 2014 ATS CUE system is much improved compared to the early build one. It isn't quite iPad smooth yet, but it isn't frustrating as it used to be.

hehe, you must not get too much snow in Northern Virginia then do you?

Well, I just bought the car < 1yr. So this is the first winter, and I've been down at university, so it didn't get driven much.

But we actually got a significant amount of snowfall, at least compared to other years. :p

Looking at the specs that SandboxGeneral posted, it's a combination of the two. The hardware should be able to handle things pretty well in a vacuum...but add in speech and the whole thing running on some paired down version of Windows, and I can see it having plenty of trouble. And crazy how slow the memory is

I can't help but wonder how the hardware from an AppleTV, which supposedly has a parts cost a little over twice that of the SYNC, would handle things? Especially with decent software engineering backing it up.

Man, I rented a Taurus with the exact same audio system you have down to the cool looking volume/music control knob and the steering wheel buttons, dual screens, etc. It was a beautiful car and made me regret buying my 2013 300, and MyFordTouch looks more modern than the Uconnect system does...

That said, the controls are awful lol. I have to agree with you. I couldn't find a really good way to skip through non-preset radio stations

However, I still loved the car. Even the sound it made when you hit the power button was great. Still, I agree, the touch knobs are dumb lol.

That said, when I bought my 300 I was looking at those Fusions. Sweet looking car, grats on that and glad you're enjoying it ^^

MyFordTouch has dramatically improved with recent software updates. When we first got our 2013 Escape it was terrible. Now it is usable.

This is a proper interior with no touchscreen crap, no gps, no technology that will fade to memory to get in the way and distract while driving. All controls easily accessed while driving and paying attention to the road.

(excuse the missing radio, was pulling out the aftermarket unit I bought the car with)

I enjoy the "technology crap" in my car, but can understand the desire for simplicity, sorta like an old trusty Nokia bar phone. :D

I kid, beautiful looking E30 interior. Looks well kept!

^It's funny, those who ride in my car are quite suprised at the tech in the little old e30: the check panel. Informing me when headlights, washer fluid, brakes, brake lights, coolant and engine oil need attention, yet also the backlighting to the panel fades off once checked. Stuff that quite a few cars today still do not have, yet is becoming common among the cheaper cars finally. My favorite (though is not accurate with my engine swap and tuning) is the BMW standard instantaneous fuel usage guage, hitting around 4mpg quite frequently with my driving. Then of course lap timer and trip fuel usage, and coolest of all the car ignition dis-abler with a 4 digit code. (not installed in my pic, but pulled from my last e30 with 13 button OBC)

Looks just like mine but mine was ugly red back when I had my 325iS. Funny you mention that instantaneous MPG gauge, I always found that the dumbest thing BMW ever put in a car.

As for the tech stuff, I skipped the nav on my incoming Mustang because while I have it on my Jetta, I am not that impressed with it and seldom use it, and when I do use it, it's just annoying. I also skipped the rear view camera and all that stuff…I kept mine pretty simple, just Brembo brake package, comfort package (heated seats for the wife), and the high end stereo because I have to have my tunes. Other than that since I want to keep the car a long time I skipped out on all the technology stuff…more to break later and more stuff to just get outdated.
