Pricing!

We are only three weeks away - very exciting yes indeed, but my question still remains - what's the monthly price going to look like?

Are they still going to keep the same prices they currently have to data? I thought there was some talk about different data/voice packages for the iPhone compared to other smartphones - I haven't heard anything about that for a while and I'm surprised there's been no news.

To me, that's the deciding factor - I'll poney up the $600 up front, if I can get unlimited data for a decent price, but if I have to pay through the nose to use the thing, then no I'm not paying $600.

Just my thoughts...

this marketing campaign seems eerily reminiscent of the PS3. letting the product sell itself without much fanfare, buildup or media coverage. of course, we know how that situation played out. let's hope the supply rumors are true or apple is in-for-it if they don't have the readiness of 3M units in the pipe.

let's see some review units out there, even with apple representation, explaining things - ballparking features on the morning tv shows, going to dj's, etc. if the supply is there, they can totally provide promo copies to selected people, get the buzz going. the buzz is there for the fanboys and purists, but i'm going to summer school at UM (Univ of Miami) right now and no one seems to know about the launch or care - they're just happily texting away.

i don't want my favorite computer-maker to die because they were too tight with the info on a cellular product launch.

Yeah, it is kinda like the PS3 pre-launch. Hopefully, the fact that the phone individually is not that much material for hardware should help. I mean, Apple does have the supplies for many many more iPods, and I'm sure no iPhone will outsell that.

He might be on to something.....

one of the commercials has David Taylor calling at the end of it....

quick Wiki search turns up that David Taylor is a game designer.....

Would apple really be that transparent?

Any Idea who Anna Hora is (calling at the end of another commercial)?

"Games" icon anyone? Apple: Solitaire, Chess, and Brickles/Arkanoid would be a very obvious and easy choice for a touch upgrade. <--- Prediction of the month. It is the only thing that is found on all iPods, Macs, and cell phones and isn't pictured on the iPhone.

davetaylor: Taylor is currently sitting on the Advisory Board of Allegorithmic and is consulting on a modern remake of a classic Apple //e game.

am I the only one who is MEH about the iPhone, but can't wait for the most perfect phone ever: iPhone G2!?

I was dead set on getting it, but now I'm second guessing until the 2nd gen also. Simply...I don't know enough. All I see are ads anf great animations and graphics. No hands on reviews about video and data transfers (while talking) with the lack of 3G, flash or no flash (can I watch You Tube or not), Yahoo Live maps (better than Google IMO), etc. I don't think I'll know those answers until after June 29th, and I'm not sure I want to spend $600 without knowing.

My only fear is not buying it, reading wonderful hands-on reviews and that it meets my requirements, then salivating for one but not being able to get one for weeks or months. That's why I may go ahead and bite the bullet, then easily sell it if I'm unsatisfied. But I HOPE someone does a real thorough review (not just a hyped up recap of facts) before June 29th.
