They are fantastic cars. And the last gen GTO in America was the Monaro, which is also brilliant, elsewhere in the world. And what is that series called? I need to find out!
Digging it.. all but the front grill. My dream car! Unfortunately it was only a concept. 2004 Pontiac GTO Ram Air 6

My perfect garage for 2012:
Unfortunately these are just renderings for now since nobody really knows how the new Porsche 911 and the new Audi A3 Sportback look like, but having seen some pictures of real badly disguised prototypes I think they are pretty close to the real deal.

In other words, the 911 will look identical to every other 911 built in history. I realize the idea is not to mess with a good thing and to always make minor changes vs. full body style changes, but damn if they aren't boring to look at these days.
Nothing at all boring about Porsches, IMHO. Cayman S is on the short list for my next car (along with BMW 1 Series M Coupe).
My track days are probably done, but I'm talking about getting a daily driver. I'm not going to base my decision on it's track performance. I'm going to base it on my personal appeal. WHatever I buy will be new, though, so price will play a factor.I've driven the piss out of both of these cars on a track and I can say with unprecedented certainty that the 1M is much more fun to rocket around a track in.The Cayman S felt like they were trying to build a 911 but they just ran out of money, so it feels unfinished, somewhat unrefined on the track. I know that sounds kind of wacky comparing it to the sledgehammer that is the 1M but the 1M is VERY good at being a sledgehammer, while the Cayman isn't that great at being a 911, if you catch my drift. Occasionally, (like most M cars) the 1M WILL try and kill you, though.
Let's not forget that Caymans are Boxers, which along with a Z3 is the highest order of chick car imaginable.

I had an E46 M3 so I am partial to M cars and the 1M is very appealing. But I really like the Cayman S too. My last track instructor was a Porsche club racer and he took me around in his Cayman S. That was quite a blast.
Cayman is not a chick car. That's the dumbest thing I've heard all day.
How would I know that.Haha, I was just joking...
I did have SMG. I probably did 9 or 10 tracks days in the M3, and the only issue I ever had was my first time out with it. I set the throttle mapping to so-called sport mode and had a spin out because it was too abrupt. After that I left that alone, but ran with traction control off and SMG set to Mode 6. I got pretty fast with it.... the 1M feels like an E46 M3 on the road (we both know that they'd pull some tricks on you every now and then). Did you have SMG on yours?

Now I have a MINI JCW. I did one track weekend in it, and ended up lapping all the M3s.
